New 300 trailer

I don't think it's quite as extensive in its use of blue screen, but yes, they are both movies based on Frank miller comics that use blue screen rather than large and lavish sets.

It will be a lovely spectacle. Three will a number of other spectacles during the movie year, including Transformers, Pathfinder, Grindhouse, Beowulf and 300.

Pity the Greeks won. Men do not deserve democracy. Men deserve tyrants.
Great last line, Grumpy! :)

They don't call me grumpy for nuthin'!

That said, there seems to be a lot of antipathy for 300. Its not even been released. I wonder why.

We are D&D players. Tell us the sky is blue, and we will tell you the sky is green, and then debate what shade of green, while a small by loud group will tell us it's also black.

Because the trailer makes it look like a great big pile of rhino droppings?

To you. To most people apparently it looks amazing. And having seen the movie myself, I thought it was fantastic.

He was asking why there was hostility for the movie. I told him why. The trailer makes it look terrible to a number of people.

One person - you. The comment about the trailer looking bad came from you, in post 56. Since then, you are still the only person saying that. One other person didn't like Sin City and therefore assumes he will not like this as well, but it doesn't seem based on the trailer.

I respect that the trailer is not your thing. Can you respect that for most people it IS their thing?

Sure. Knock yourselves out. I predict that you will need to go to see the movie quickly though: I give it two weeks in the theatres before it is replaced by something else. Unless it is released in February, in which case I guess that it will be in the theatres for three weeks.

Okay, so lets bet on it. I'd bet you pretty much any amount of denarii over at Circvs Maximvs on this issue. This movie will be in theatres for no less than the standard 4 weeks. It won't be #1 for four weeks (extremely few movies are), but it will be in solid rotation in the theatres for at least the normal 4 weeks like most movies.

The release date is March 9, 2007 by the way. And it is also being released in IMAX. A studio executive recently revealed that 300 is pre-testing better than the first installment of The Matrix
