This case is meant to be already handled within the wealth system. Taking 20 (like Mistwell says) might describe the worst case scenario...

The main reason going on adventures in a typical D20 Modern campaign won`t be the money you get from it - as others already said, after your first succesfull adventure, you are probably quite wealthy and won`t have much problems.
You go adventuring for the thrill of it, or because of "higher reasons" - maybe trying to save the world for the evil creatures that invade your world. (Think of the Shadowchasers campaign and so on). That is the reason why every campaign has its "Department-7" ...
