Thanks to Silver Branch Games and a couple of others who gave me some sound advice on making it clear what's being cloned. A shorter, slightly crisper blurb now goes:

Tainted clones and remixes the original rules of the fantasy RPG published by Gary Gygax and Dave Arneson in 1974. The game makes use of System Reference Documents produced by Wizards of the Coast and is also a Swords and Wizardry Variant.


Tainted uses Open Gaming License (OGL) content and fresh content to re-visit the classic gameplay found in early versions of the original rules. As a result, the game draws on favorite monsters, classes and options from many OGL sources and adapts them to fit Old School play.
Please note:

• Regular discount codes for Tainted are publicized at the Thistle Games website.
• Tainted comes with permission to print additional copies of the Player's Guide for your players. Please remember to include the short OGL Section at the end of Tainted when printing.

What's In?

• Bards, Clerics, Fighters, Magic-Users, Monks, Rangers, Paladins and Thieves all feature.
• Demilichs, Drow, Duergar, Eyes of True Terror, Ghosts, Mind Eaters, Pit Fiends and a Tarrasque are amongst the monsters included in Tainted.
• Folding Boats, Holy Avengers, Ioun Stones, Prayer Beads, Robes of Useful Items, Sovereign Glue and Vorpal Blades are just a few of the magic items brought in from OGL sources.

Taint

• Players can choose whether to battle evil, to struggle on the border between good and evil, or to embrace the essence of evil known as Taint.
• Taint doesn't drive characters completely insane or leave them horribly disfigured. Well, not at first.
• Taint may involve characters in moments of madness, but this is about the option of playing as anti-heroes rather than a free-for-all.
