New Core Classes: Love them or Leave them?

How do you feel about using new core classes? Pick all that apply.

If I want generic, I'll go with UA's Generic Warrior, Generic Expert, and Generic Spellcaster, thankyouverymuch. In lieu of that, having variety is good, and I'm jumpin' eagerly on that bandwagon.

I would use any class that I thought was interesting and balanced enough. IMC, I allow the PHB classes, some of the AE classes, classes from the Complete Series, Legends of the Samurai, XPH, Warcraft, and the Iron Kingdoms. There are a wide array of classes, but the world itself is very varied and crazy as well. All in all, I like a LOT of options. It makes the game more interesting to me to see new types of characters being played.

I love most of them.

Only ones I don't like are the CW Samurai, Swashbuckler, and the Favored Soul.

Samurai annoyed me, not necessarily because it was bad but because it was a complete departure from the one presented in 3.0's Oriental Adventures. It just struck me as incredibly silly to re-present the class and make it completely incompatible with the setting book that closest allows you to utilise it. You either have to update the 3.0 yourself or use this completely new and different version....strange.

No, not just that, but that the class (as presented) could have been a fighter with a specialized feat chain.

The "secondary" core classes from WotC haven't come up for the players, although I've used several of them as NPCs and haven't had a problem with them for the current campaign, but am narrowing down the list players can select from for my upcoming campaign to better suit the setting.

The Samuri was disappointing to me (seemed pointless). In some cases, some of the core classes feel almost "prestige classy" in some respects (i.e. Healer) due to their focus, but I don't really have a problem with it.
