New Epic Destinies

Wow... absolutely awesome. The fluff is fantastic, the crunch fits perfectly, nicely balanced and provides some interesting choices.

Comparing these 3 to demigod now makes that Epic destiny look trite.

"These epic destinies have the most fluff explanation I've ever seen within an ED writeup (just an observation). Even the level 26 utilities are explained!

Draconic Incarnation looks to be a very powerful choice for most Arcane characters, as there's yet to be an arcane class that doesn't love Charisma or Int. And who can say no to 2 more level 25 daily spells of your choice? (Let's not forget that the level 26 stance gives you a close blast 5 attack, huge size, and flight)

Thief of Legend has perhaps the most flufftasticly-awesome ability I've yet seen in an ED by way of the last paragraph of level 24 revival ability. And perhaps best of all -- it's a "thief" based archetype that doesn't require rogue. Also, at level 30 you get permanent invisibility with any modicum of optimization.

Unyielding Sentinel for defenders has the same x2 ability bumps as the other EDs (one mandated towards CON, but being a defender, I think that's okay) The level 26 stance is perhaps the epitome of stickyness. Thou shalt not be moved or disabled. Ever. Oh, and at level 30, you regain 1/4 of your health when you kill something." - Veok (from WoTC boards)

That power is single-handedly the coolest power I've seen in 4e yet. It's so open for DM play and for players to do stuff. I love the sidebar above it.

Wow, Draconic Incarnation is broke wide open if you ask me. Its neat, but it makes Demigod look anemic. OK, you killed me, now I'm at full hit points, have phasing and insubstantial, haha! Yeah, Demigod gets half his hit points back, but this guy basically gets TWICE his normal hit points back. Heh, Demigod gets limitless encounter powers? Draconic Incarnation gets 2 level 25 dailies from ANY class!!!???

Ayup, these EDs are neat, I like the fluff, but they're WAY above the power level of even the best existing EDs from what I can see.

I gotta agree, these ED's are really nice but at the same time they are super powered ED's that trump all others.

A phasing, insubstantial, fully HP'd, complete access to all powers daily ability is uber strong.

The Thief is open to all sorts of abuse from a wily player who knows how to trick his DM.

They nerved the Demigod's capstone power to 1/encounter and they nerfed Punisher of the Gods. Just wait for D388 to be released or maybe for DA2010. We will see how long those 3 can enjoy their power.

Yeah I wasn't commenting on power level until the compiled version comes out, but that there's an article with very, very good fluff behind the mechanics makes me happy, especially as my auto-renewal option kicked in earlier in the week when I wasn't paying attention *doh*

I hope more articles like this in the future
