Obviously I need to know more about the X-men to get this joke. Elan's logic, however, is impeccable as always. ;)

That's not an X-men joke, beyond the name (Colossus). The Colossus of Rhodes was one of the ancient wonders of the world. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Colossus_of_rhodes

Signs I'm doing something right: my almost-thirteen-year-old son didn't get it, until I ID'd Cyclops for him. After that, he recognized Odysseus almost immediately.

I love my family. :)

I'd be equally dismayed if my own progeny didn't get either part of the joke. Geek literacy is as important as Greek literacy! But still, cool that your kid got the Greek half. I know people in my (honors) lit course who wouldn't have gotten it while we were reading the Oddysey. >_>

I must turn in my nerd card. While I did recognize cyclops, I didn't get it AT ALL

It was only after coming to this forum did I put it all together and now, looking back, it makes so much sense and I am just an idiot.

This requires you to have watched two shows:
[SBLOCK]1. Lost[/SBLOCK]
[SBLOCK]2. Dharma & Greg[/SBLOCK]
Having never watched #1, would you please explain how these can possibly relate in any manner?
