New Party - Need PC Suggestions

We're starting over again at level 1. I'm decided to try my hand as a sorcerer and I was thinking Sea Kin with Metamagic Specialist. We use Weapon Groups variant. I asked for and was allowed Launch Bolt (from FR) just because I like it's a good flavor effect. I'm not particularly interested in powergaming and therefore I am not going for the standard polymorph/alter self line, and no black tentacles or enervation in my future. The campaign is a "water world" though all habitats will be explored, but a sea kin won't be gimped. It's a 28pt buy and I start with about 75gp. Almost any other non-campaign specific WotC sources are available, though I don't have Bo9S or MiC, or any of the newer books within maybe the last year (except MMV and SC).

Any ideas would be appreciated. I was thinking of one of the feats that grant some low-level spell-like abilities.

Oh, and the others will all be human: cleric, monk, swashbuckler, and duskblade.

Suggestions on feats, spells, skills...any very common houserules on sorcerers perhaps.

Yeah, no one wants to play a rogue-type. :)

Also, the person with the duskblade changed his mind and will try his hand at a hexblade.

In a game with a lot of undead, I'm considering playing a Beguiler in place of a Rogue. It's got some Sorcerer vibes, but it can pull trap duty as well.

If you know there will be many undead, why not Scout/Ranger with Swift Hunter? Trapduty and damage dealer.

Feats totally depend on whether you are aiming for some PrC or not and what spells you will use a lot.

Spells... Color Spray is great at low levels, Mage Armor is kinda boring, but it certainly helps survive.

Skills... Bluff, max Concentration, Knowledge (arcana), max Spellcraft, Spot (cc), maybe Tumble (cc).

any very common houserules on sorcerers perhaps.

4 skill points
more Cha-related class skills

 How is that anything like what the OP requested? (And why quote me?)

Confused, -- N

You said Beguiler instead of Rogue, I'd rather say Scout instead of Rogue ... yeah, I drifted half an ocean away from the original topic ;)

Infini: If you were thinking about roguish stuff, did you take a look at the Lurk, the daggermage class or something similar? They are all easier to build up than an Arcane Trickster.

If you go pure sorcerer, get Dragon Magic and some Dragon Heritage that lets you breathe water (if your seakin can't do that what I would assume). It's sooo good, it's almost broken ;)
