New PC: Spirit of the Blade Master

The Proconsul

First Post
Spirit of the Blade Master

[Flavor text forthcoming]
This PC has only five levels. I didn’t do a table, because these always look awkward when I try ;)

Preq:
Weapon Focus: Any sword
Weapon Specialization: Any sword
Skill Focus: Knowledge Religion
Base Attack Bonus +8
Knowledge (Religion) 3 ranks

Hit die: d10
Base Attack Bonus: Good
Will save: Good
Reflex Save: Bad
Fortitude Save: Bad

Skill Points/level: 2 + Int mod
Class Skills: Bluff, Diplomacy, Knowledge (Religion), Sense Motive

Class Abilities:

All abilities only work with the type of sword the Master took Focus and Specialization for.

Balance in All Things: Once per day per level in this prestige class, the Spirit of the Blade Master may, after a successful attack, add the difference between his attack roll and his opponents AC to the damage.

Truth of the Edge: Starting at 3rd level, the Master may concentrate for one round. If he attacks the next round before moving, he is considered to have rolled a 20 on his attack roll (but cannot score a critical hit).

Destiny cannot be Defied: Starting at 5th level, when hitting with his best attack modifier, the Master may inflict damage on himself to increase the damage of his own strike by a like amount.

I love the names of the abilities. However, several notes:

Truth of the Edge - impossibly abusable. Case in point - Any creature with levels in this class and reach. Or with natural reach *and* a weapon that grants reach. At the very least there should be a daily limit on the uses of this ability. Perhaps 2/day?

Destiny Cannot Be Defied - What is the limit of how many hit points can be "spent" using this ability? Again, a daily limit may be appropriate.

With some limits, this is a pretty neat class.

Hmm. I didn't consider reach...

Well, a daily limit seems logical. 2/day, too.

Maximum bonus damage: What about, say, 2 per HD (of the Master)?
