New sorcerer feat

In an effort to allow sorcerers to use metamagic feats a little more easily, how about this feat:

Metamagic Mastery
You can cast a metamagic'd feat as a standard action
Prerequisite: Any 1 metamagic feat
Benefit: You can apply Metamagic Mastery to any spell cast with a metamagic feat to cast it as fast as if there were no metamagic feats applied. A spell with a casting time of 1 action or any other casting time would be the same. The feat is of much more use to bards and sorcerers than other spellcasters. A Metamagic Mastery spell uses up a spell slot one ligher higher than the spell's actual level.
Normal: A bard or sorcerer casting a metamagic'd spell with 1 action would take a full-round action, or higher casting times would take an extra round to cast.

I don't see why you can't add Quicken Spell and create a trifecta (or more) of metamagic. Though a sorcerer using a 9th level slot for a maximized and quickened Melf's Acid Arrow seems somewhat on the bizarre side, especially if you miss your ranged touch attack. But hey, since it was quickened, you can try again that same round!

That'd be a 4th level slot, bucko. :)

Meta Mastery +1.
Quicken +4.
Total: +5 levels.

So a sorceror could pull off a Quickened Acid Orb. Not bad, not bad.

I, myself, think this is a bit weak and would probibly just let a Sorcerer, Bard or Cleric (Spontainous Cure/Inflict) take the feat and let it apply without having to raise the spell level higher. That's just me, though.

I'd make it be a Feat that gives you X uses per day. Something like "You may ignore the extra casting time normally associated with metamagicked spontaneous spells a number of times per day equal to your CHA modifier" or something.

I like this idea a lot. Here's something like it I've been working on:

Intrinsic Metamagic [general]
You can manipulate your spells with greater ease.
Prerequisites: Any 2 metamagic feats, Sorc level 3+
Benefit: You may add a number of levels of metamagic equal to 1/2 your sorceror casting level as a free action on each spell. Example: If you are a 4th level sorceror you may cast a stilled magic missle using a level 2 slot, or a stilled+silent daze using a level 2 slot. You may not cast an empowered, stilled, and silent spell until 8th level (and even then, it would be a 0-level spell).
Normal: Adding a metamgic feat increases the spell's casting time.

Same, idea, little more powerful, little harder to get. Whatcha think?

Actually, Xarlen, it would be 10th level (2nd level spell +1 Metamagic Mastery +4 Quicken +3 Maximized. I forgot Quicken was +4 levels). I guess I could say a Magic Missile instead for 9th level. (Hoorah! I just did 25 points of quickened damage! Oh, crap, I didn't beat the SR because it was too low level :( )

And I agree that it is pretty expensive to use this feat (use up a precious feat slot and add a level), so the idea about granting this x number of times per day would make for a better feat, perhaps.
