"New" Star Wars DVD box set to be released December 6

I doubt that's going to happen, despite how much money can be made from it.

You'd think so, but how many people actually give a damn about them? It's only hardcore fans that give a crap, and would enough of them be enough to justify the expense?

Given that hardcore fans have driven the creation and sale of 92 slightly different versions of the movies for home viewing, I'd say yes.

D-d-d-d-d-dOUBLE DIP!

Fortunately, it seems if you bought the last boxed set of Episodes IV-VI, there's no reason to buy this one.

Despite being a pretty serious Star Wars fan, I do find this doubing-dipping to be very annoying. But, just about every studio does it.

I'm another one, who has avoided the multi-interation of the star wars movies. Even without an official announcement to this point, we all know a 3 disc set of eps 1-3, and the mega 6 disc set will eventually be released. Also, Lucas is working on converting all 6 movies into 3D for theatrical release (annouced 6-8 monthes back). So you know after they are released, we get another boxed set. So, while I love star wars, I'll keep waiting. Eventually Lucas will finish his fiddling, maybe even move on to some of his other movies. Maybe one day we'll get the special edition of Willow, where Mad Madigan shoot first.

Robert Rodriguez has urged everyone not to buy the current version of Sin City, because apparently the special edition of it is just going to be insane.

Not everyone, just the hardcore fans. The barebones is for the people who liked the movie, and don't care about its pedigree.

For the record, Sin City Expanded and Uncut is due out in mid-December. The 13th, IIRC.
