New super cuteness at the Treebore household

Holy painfully cute. It's my dream to one day have a farm with goats and chickens and honeybees.

Same here. My wife's folks had some goats and they are great animals. Eventually when I move back to the States, I'd like to get some goats, and chickens and bees and...well, it just goes with this whole self sustaining organic farm thing I'd like to do.

I haven't dealt with these people personally, but I have dealt with others who dealt with them, and they all said great things about them. The only people I know of that they all agreed upon. So I think they are a good start.

Pygmy Goat Breeders

PS.

I just got to try Goat for the first time a few weeks ago.

Spiced, Roasted by some Greek Immigrants.

Ummmm..... Tasty.

Oops.

Sorry Little Guy. But they only thing I Like better than some good Roast Goat is some fresh Goat Cheese.

And, you're ability to produce cheese is severly limited.

What are these things raised for anyway?

Meat? Milk? Wool? General Cuteness?

Cheese. The females give me enough milk each per day to make a pound of goats cheese. So I get about 3.5 pounds of fresh goats cheese per day (4 females giving milk right now). Plus I am going to try making Mozzarella out of it.

From what I have been told goat meat is the most widely eaten meat in the world. At least that isn't fished for. I believe I was told something in the neighborhood of 60 to 70% of the worlds population eat goats. I am als told they taste very similiar to deer. Not surprising to me seeing as to how closely related thye are.

You may have. Especially if you have had higher quality cheeses before. Most likely at a restaurant, since you don't think you have had any. But it is very possible you haven't.

I thought I hadn't, but I love cheeses, and found out several of my favorites were made from goats milk.

Mine are as well. I also like goat's milk. Mmmmm :)

I love goat's milk too. When I was a baby and growing up, I was allergic to both cow's milk and err human milk. Goat's milk and the powdered variety were the only milks I could have without developing a snot nose.

Nowadays, I'm not really fond of moo-juice unless it's dosed with chocolate or honey. :heh:

Uber cuteness there on the pygme goat critter. :)

When I was growing up, my parents would 'rent' a goat for the summer when we stayed at our lake house. Hee. Back when I was 6 or so, a common sight would be me, followed by the goat, followed by the family dog (he'd eat the goat pellets), followed by the family cat (a Siamese.) My ma had no worries about me, cuz she always knew where I was due to the fact that the goat had a bell and the dog was trained to protect me. :]

I have 6 pygmy goats (Buck, Maria, Patches, Clover, Violet, Dandelion) in a pen with 2 jacob's sheep (Malerie and Valerie) and one of my great pyrs (Whimsey). My friendliest sheep, Patches, is the one that was first born on my land. I keep hoping for some baby shoats/geep, but I'm not holding my breathe. ;)

Jacob's Sheep? Are those the ones that can get the really crazy looking horns? The ones that would look awesome on a demon kind of horns?
