New Tansformers or Old Transformers

Anyway what is your opinion of the new Transformers show vs the old (original) show and while we're at it which Megatron was the best?


I just had the displeasure of watching an episode of the New Transformers and was horrofied by the load of candyfloss and stiff carbon monoxide crap coming out of the screen.

These are not the Transformers as I remember them - this was a sad reflection of that former glory tainted - yes tainted - by the machinations of DBZ, Pokemon and their ilk

I wept for the youth of today as I released my "Mega OT Rant Attack!" at the nephews who had turned it on.

The makers of this parody should be drieven out into the forest and gased is all I can say!

And who cares about Megatrons? Starscream is the real brains behind the Decepticons.

Between G1 (1984-1990) and Armada (2002), I prefer the G1 cartoon. I saw the Armada premier, and it was so painful, I'm not even going to follow the series.

However, for TF cartoon goodness, you just can't beat Beast Wars (1996-1999).

On a related note, if I ever run a Lawful Neutral character (I lean towards NG-CG), he'll bear a remarkable resemblence to Dinobot.

What about Beast Wars? That was the best series of all of them! Dinotron was the best! A bad guy and a good guy all at once. And Rattrap was just hilarious... although Optimous Primal sort of sucked... what a wuss.

I am a long-time transfan (do some searches and you can find my fanfic...it's written by 'Lizard'), and my opinions are:

Original TF series:Ruled.
Beast Wars: Very, very, good, with some powerful and mature stories. Much better than it had to be, and the writers bent over backwards to learn about, and communicate with, the Transfan community.
Machine Wars: Never saw it.
Robots In Disguise: Saw 3 or 4 episodes. Flat and dull.
Transformers Armada: Hard to watch. The kids have WAY to large a role; Spike was bad enough, but these punks...UGH! The show is called THE TRANSFORMERS, not The Stupid High School Kids Who Hang Out With The Transformers Once In A While.

I was just about start working on a D20 TF game when I got another paying gig, so that gets backburnered for now...
