D&D 5E New to D&D and ...

I'm new to playing D&D(quite new indeed, sorry) and am currently looking for players who can teach me basics and perhaps nearby players to try a game with

I used the Wizard of the Coast store locator to find a game. Found in this link:

Just put in your zip code and find a store near you. I would call the place just to make sure they still have a game going. Good luck!

PS I did this about a year ago and I'm still playing at the place near me.

Quick question though.. Do you often run into unpleasant players when using methods like that? Or in general? I'm pretty new to all this

I get along fine with the folks I play with. In fact, I find those people quite a bit more considerate and respectful than most people I meet outside of the store. I guess it's because we all share the same interest.

It's really just a matter of going down there and introducing yourself. If you find that the people there are a bunch of jerks...find another store. No gaming is better than bad gaming. I sincerely doubt that this would happen though.
