New Weapon Enhancement: Principled

VirtualWizard

Principled: A principled weapon is lawfully aligned and enhanced by the power of law. It always deals the maximum damage on its base damage die/dice (not elemental, alignment, or special attack damage). It bestows one negative level on any chaotic creature attempting to wield it. The negative level remains as long as the weapon is in hand and disappears when the weapon is no longer wielded. This negative level never resaults in actual level loss, but it cannot be overcome in any way (including restoration spells). Bows, crossbows, and slings so enchanted bestow the principled power upon their ammunition.

Caster Level: 7th; Prerequisites: Craft Magic Arms and Armor, order's wrath, creator must be lawful; Market Price: +2

So what do you think?

Hmm... Interesting, but perhaps a bit too powerful for +2. Also taking into account the huge difference in damage between a dagger and say... a greatsword.

I'd say make some sort of chart to determine the cost of the enchantmet, determined by damage die.

1d4 = +1
1d6-1d8, 2d4 = +2
1d10-1d12, 2d6 = +3
anything higher = +4

Another idea would be that the weapon always deals average damage for a weapon of its type. After all, 'lawful' doesn't necessarily mean 'better'. If it is going to always be maximum damage, I would say it should only be against chaotic opponents.

Oh hey, there's an idea: maximum damage vs chaotic opponents, average damage vs neutral opponents, minimum damage vs lawful opponents?
