D&D 5E New WotC Survey! Learn About A New D&D Product!

WotC has launched a new survey about the future of D&D. This survey includes an NDA (which some people have not taken to well!) halfway through, which asks you not to talk about the survey on pain of being tracked down and fined, but it's about an upcoming (unannounced) new D&D product. You can find out what it is by taking the survey (or it's all over social media aready).

The NDA would be a lot scarier if the property was still owned by TSR. They'd sue every person who took the survey.

I didn't see any surprising secret questions, despite it telling me one was coming, unless "what do you think of half-orcs getting darkvision" is a big secret.

I did get the secret question, I think if you got it or not depends on your birth month as weird as that sounds. I will not say what the question was.

I suspect the questions on races is to see if some of the complaints are actually widespread or just a few malcontents on social media

You all have also basically revealed what it is, based on a little bit in one person's post and a little bit in another person's post.

Or it's intended to help them in contract renegotiations.

It's much worse on Reddit. The whole shebang is out and about. Not sure what they were thinking with this.

That they're asking big sweeping questions about the core elements of the player experience certainly feels like we're either about to get another Everything book (which would be kind of a surprise), a race book (which would also be kind of a surprise), or they're spinning up for the 2024 edition.

I just don't see them doing 6E when they have huge year after year growth unless they are worried about some of the problematic elements?

The whole tracking thing for the survey was annoying. I did the survey through Twitter with Firefox and the only way someone else in my house could also take the survey was to use the link from the Facebook post while using Chrome. What a pain.

Im sure their new secret product will work just as smoothly as all the previous ones have.

Far more likely to revise the three core books than put out a new edition. They’re still increasing sales on 5E. You let that continue and only do 6E when 5E’s sales start to flag.
