D&D 5E (2024) Next issue of Game Informer will have details on the two upcoming Forgotten Realms books

Mostly on topic, but I recall how WoTC was saying the 2024 MM was the first 5e book with a naughty word in it. Well, I was doing some reading up on my FR lore, and it dawned on me that Umberlee has a certain title, used in SCAG, that is also a naughty word!

I can't seem to find any info on this, so apologies if its been covered. Did they discuss what new species we're getting? I would imagine Duergar, sea elf, and genasi would be good includes.

No new species in the books.

None. There are explicitly no new Species options, though apparently they go into lore but FR specific cultures like Gold vs. Shield Dwarves. Sounds like fluff only, though.

The more I read about the Shadovar and their flying City of Shade, the more I hope they are touched on in some way, even with the digital things! There's some cool ideas there!!

I have no idea how likely that would be, however.

I am very excited for the bestiary! I've been looking at Forgotten Realms stuff on wikis and such, and I feel that there's lots of material to work with! Not even just from 2e, as 3.5 introduced the shades/shadovar, and the kir-lanan!

I think the kir-lanan would be a fun inclusion: vaguely gargoyle-like monstrous beings who hate divine magic and the gods, and who only popped up in Toril after the Time of Troubles. It'd be cool to see how that idea would play out in 5e!

The whole Shades thing has been in a kind of Limbo since the end of 4E, ao it is going to be interesting to find out the "current" state of the Dalelands.

That does given some wiggle room for things for gold vs. shield crunch, such as putting in alternate abilities for gold with shield as the same as the PHB, simply because those would be new  lineages and not species. That's just hope and speculation on my part, though.
