Yes. They're on the front page, easy to find and read for free. Let me help:

How much of those are actual articles? I'd say most are ads. If I'm not mistaken and I may well be but wasn't D&DB separate from WotC website when it first launched and you needed 2 accounts, one for each?

Yes, DDB was originally a third party project with a license from WotC. It was owned first by Curse and then by Fandom. Later, it was bought by WotC and brought in-house. After a while, WotC decided to merge DDB with its general D&D website.

I remember having to create a new account. 3.x WotC site was good. before that, They had columns, for instance, Wyrms of the North by Ed Greenwood. Thats gone, but it was good. Those were nice 3-4 page free "Web Enhancements" I believe they called them.

DDB has many articles that are not strictly adds, by the typically are tied to an product. Though often even these can be helpful / interesting outside the product they are related to. Here are some recent articles:

Did I miss a website filter on D&DB? Every time I go there, I get hit with ads, soliciting me to buy something. Never saw this before.
IDK, I don't have any filter on in D&DB but I do use an add blocker on my browser. However, I just tried it with another browser without any add blockers and it looked the same.

In both browsers the top of the page is a few adds, see below. However, the articles are immediately below these adds.
