Night Stalker...got Stalked.

I'm not surprised either but I'm disappointed that Night Stalker didn't last at least one season. Surprisingly, WB's Supernatural catches the spirit of the original Kolchak than the new series ever did. I think the biggest reason that I was disappointed in Night Stalker was that it took itself too seriously. I love the original Kolchak's campiness.

I liked the show a lot. I am a big fan of the original (even at it's cheesy moments), but I thought the new show had some good moments.

It was set up to fail because of what it was put up against: The Apprentice (fading, but still #32) and CSI (Rated #1), two of the highest rated shows on TV. Against them, Night Stalker was only able to garner a 64th place showing (which, it should be noted, was an improvement over the show it replaced). That also put it fairly close behind shows like Joey (at 58th) and above shows like Everybody Hates Chris (74th) and Veronica Mars (105th).

It should also be noted that the original series also was cancelled, after 20 episodes, which was nearly a full run....and it too got killed in the ratings, by Angie Dickinson's Police Woman.

I thought the new Night Stalker was okay. But really, against CSI, it didn't have a chance. You can compare it to Supernatural, but I believe it actually got better ratings. Just on WB, anything that does better than dead last is a "hit".

Anyway, I've never understood why people like seeing shows get cancelled. If you don't like it, don't watch it.

I hated Firefly, but I was sad when it got axed, simply because I knew lots of people liked it.

I just don't understand you.... ;)

I never understaood why people wee so attached to a tV show they get upset and mad when it get axed. I love Foirefire, but it didn't bother me when it got canceled. But fans of it and Farscape more then others just seem so attached to the show that they can't seem to expect reality.

Because it's an entertaining diversion in a TV landscape that is increasingly filled with things I don't like. I don't watch a great deal of TV (this current season is unusual in that I'm watching six shows consistantly*, and picking back up Smallville - last year I was watching just three regularly) but I really like the shows I do watch, and feel bad when they go away or get cancelled - since a lot of what I like is not what Joe NASCAR likes, that happens fairly often - and yeah, it does piss me off.

This doesn't put me anywhere near some of my friends who consistantly watch about 10 shows or more a week.

Too bad about Night Stalker. I liked it a great deal and found it very interesting. I especially liked Stuart Townsend and his portrayal, and the supporting cast was just starting to come together. At least it got a longer run than some FOX shows, which disappear after only one episode (or even less!).

* Supernatural, Lost, (Night Stalker), Smallville, Teen Titans, (JLU when it comes back on), and South Park. I'm going to start getting the Battlestar Gallactica DVDs and based on recommendations start on Veronica Mars Season One.

I often get annoyed when a show I really likes get cancled. I sometimes wonder why a quality show like say Farscape gets canned yet some truly godawful shows like say The world's next supermodel which is all about selfish backstabbing vain woman stays on the air.

I don't see anything wrong about getting attached to a show. I often have and have enjoyed joining chat groups about the show and reading and writing fan fiction.

As for accepting reality I think most fans do but that does not mean that it does not bother them.

By that measure, Croth, why get upset about anything? Someone beats you up and robs you? That's reality, man. Your car explodes and kills your girlfriend? Reality, baby.

What the heck does "reality" have to do with wanting somethng to be different?
