Maybe. But the fact is Morrus and the mods feel like its gotten out of hand. I trust them since they have yet to steer me wrong. (Entirely.) I'm not saying DON'T ask the hard questions. Do so. But maybe just do so without the venom.

I'm not asking you to smother you feelings Lane. If it seems that way, I'm sorry. But I am asking the designers at WotC to come here, talk to us and feel like we aren't the enemy. Or at least they aren't.

Here I've got a four day weekend and I can't even enjoy myself on-line these days.

Between the College shooting and all the gun control arguments popping up elsewhere (me being a University Security Officer and a NRA Life Member), I have been avoiding most discussions on other boards like the plague. I'm just tired of the whole thing.

No, that is not an invitation to discuss such things on this site.

So I come here to get away from all that crap and what do I see?

Because if people aren't allowed to give (rational) voice to their feelings, and to ask the tough questions, the resulting impression will be that the general community (as represented here) is willing to lie down and take it.

Rational and civil discourse is welcome, of course! It's the prospect and reality of rude and hateful posts that have made Morrus take out the banhammers from his desk drawer for us to use if necessary.

We all love free speech. But free speech entails hearing all points of view, and we mods and admins think the best way to encourage that is to encourage - and enforce - civil discourse.

Not usually a problem around here, but this is an unusually sensitive subject.

Besides, we know what is really behind this recent announcement: Nightfall trying to break 100,000 posts.

... I mean really...

I would like to hear more from Wizards. I'm not surprised that we're not, for two reasons:

1) Because anyone from Wizards posting here would get lynched right now.

2) Because they're a corporation with strong management, and that's the way that their world works.

The second I can understand while disagreeing, and the first is just sad. I would love to hear from the Wizards folks, but it would almost take almost insane bravery to post right now... the message would be instantly lost in the deluge of raw hatred.


As for why Paizo is posting: well, they're the beloved underdogs, not the evil corporate overlords.

When it comes down to it:

Paizo makes good stuff. I enjoy using it.

Wizards makes good stuff. I enjoy using it.

There used to be a relationship between them; there is no longer. There will be something new. Dungeon was good enough to warrant a subscription; maybe the new thing will as well. And until then, civility and reason will be the message of the day from me.
