Ninja Questions [Complete Adventurer]

I'm not sure what you're saying is ok.

You only get 1 move action and 1 standard action in a round. You will use your move action to Improve Feint your opponent. You'll need to use your standard action to make an attack, if you want to deliver your Sudden Strike, since when Feinting in combat, you have to make your attack on or before your next turn (per the SRD).

You could always ready an action to attack the person you Feinted if said person comes within range, but there's no telling if your opponent will come up to you.

Unless I've made another mistake in reading the rules, Improved Feint will work best if you are already next to the target you wish to Sudden Strike...

Right, I gotcha. I think we are saying the same thing, I was just unclear in my attack statement. Of course, given a choice, this option will always be second to just using Ghost Step (Invisibilty) anyway, especially since that is a swift action instead of move action.

I guess the reasoning must be that since Truee Seeing is of higher level than See Invisibility, Blur-like concealment can be better than Invisibility...

I agree that the power is weak compared to Ghost Step, EVEN if a ninja would reappear after an attack...

Still, that is a pretty good catch. I missed that whole reference to "see invisiblity" versus "true seeing" in the Ki Dodge description (it falls on the next page. :o )

Well, the more I think this through, the more I am digging the CA Ninja class. In some ways, I still think it is inferior to the Rogue, but it does have some nifty abilities. And, it certainly fits my character conception perfectly - as a cleric of Xan Yae, Goddess of Steath and Trickery, patron of monks and thieves.

I play a 6th level Ninja and we run it where invisibility lasts one round even if you attack, since it didn't say it acted like the spell. Plus, you can only do it a limited amount of rounds per day. Sudden Strike is much weaker than Sneak Attack, so this is one way to balance it out.

We also play it so that my ninja blinks briefly visible until he can use another swift action to go invisible again. Sometimes it warrants a spot check from the enemy to even notice he was there.
