The plural of ninja[/] is ninja.

The plural of ninja is pronounced SPLORCH oddly the singular is also pronounced SPLORCH. This is believed to be the only sound made by a ninja, the sound of a 42-pounder carronade fired by a pirate splattering them into red paste. Whether or not this red paste is capable of "flipping out and killing things" is unknown.

An ocean of blood...
Now lets begin the killing time...

Strange I think I recognize these lyrics from somewhere and keep connecting it with either Deicide or a band that had Atomic as part of its name that broke up a few years back.

Ahh... but the sound is "Ptang " if you are facing an anime ninja, which just parried the cannon ball.

Anime ninjas are capable of "flipping out and killing things" even if they are red paste, oddly enough.

Regular ninjas, well... no. SPLORCH.

It comes from one of the very few animes I've ever liked, Trigun. Vash sings this little poem while walking down a hall to scare off a Mafia' family'.

I don't know if it has ever been used out side of that context. Lets see if any one can guess where this one is from.

Little pest
Scares the dragons
from their nest."

For all that I generally stay away from anime any show with a main character that sings poems like that I've got to check out.

Nope don't recognize it at all. Maybe the first one was a coincidence but I have this feeling that I heard a song by a local unsigned band with similar lyrics. It was either Deicide or that other band whose name I can't remember that broke up after their lead singer OD'ed in his van after a show.

The problem with speculations about ninjas is that they are simultaneously everything we think they are, as well as able to always surprise their adversary, leading to an often fatal paradox. Even as I write this I know I will die, because I know ninjas, and yet I am terrified of the unknown. It is only a matter of ti

I'm with The Tick on this one. "Oh, don't worry, Arthur. Ninja are probably more scared of you than you are of them."

I think I liked Trigun because it was 'the Princess Bride' of Anime. It was very much a Satire of anime filled with quip dialog.

What, no Naruto option for ninjas?!
Please report to the termination chamber as you have no more reason to live... :\

Andor pretty much got it right on the first try... although as history progressed so did their role as "undercover" agents in the Imperial Shogunate. My least favorite scene in "The Last Samurai" is the 4,000,000 ninjas (obvious hyperbole) storming the samurai camp. Anything more than 3 would hae been overkill and jeopardrized their 'normal' way of operating.

Frankly, I haven't seen a properly portrayed ninja in film with the possible exception of James Clavell's mini-series "Shogun" and even that was over the top. Honestly, the legend is more spectacular than the real thing. As for the ladders, etc, (q.v.) , sometimes there were other farming implements that would be used, and the extensive use of knots in Nipponese farming led to some ...'creative' uses of rope in such situation, which, while neat, is hardly, 'mystical'.
