Niobe's Dilemma (Manzanita Judging)

(OOC: Several of the other PCs readied--I suggest keeping the ready and/or healing and see if Charming the leader will work for us. I can also Charm more of them :] It's basically all I can do :o

By the way, Bront--as per the SRD, Lasair knows if he failed or not. Assuming he failed, right?)

(OOC: Good. Now we hope this guy can speak for the others in such a way that convincing him is good enough. Diplomacy checks against people who are already Charmed tend to produce good effects :])

Wil is puzzled by this course of events. He looks to Lasair for instructions, not daring to move for fear of destroying the tense negotiations.

*Lasair nods to Wil and smiles kindly at her friend amongst the horsemen*

"I think we can find a peaceful solution. Wil, why don't you tend to the wounded?"

What the...

Troi glances to Lasair, then back at the horsemen. He keeps his whip and shortsword at the ready, but attempts to appear mildly less threatening.

[sblock=ooc]Maintaining readied action to hit the first one to come within range, if they seem hostile.[/sblock]

Jaan Saresaar, male human servant of the Greenman

--- Round 4 ---

Jaan grimaces as the riders demand their gold. Nothing but common bandits. How disappointing. Although it occures to Jaan that they it would be a little too much of a coincidence for them to have been 'just in the area'.

Jaan is about to respond whan Lasair speaks up. Jaan holds his peace for the moment, and waits to see where Lasair leads things. As the situation seems to cool a little, and Jaan sees the direction Lasair is taking, Jaan eases out from behind the tree a little and takes a more relaxed posture. The paladin doesn't really understand Lasairs powers, but he suspects something like a charm is being used. But he keeps his weapons in hand, ready to defend himself if the riders start moving aggressively.

Hold readied attack for the moment.

Wil nods at Lasair's direction and moves to Jaan to heal him of his wounds, having seen him get struck twice.

OOG: If none of the horsemen stop him, Wil's cure spell heals 1d8+2=8 damage.

Wil moves over to Jaan and cures his wounds.

Troi and Jaan stay on edge, waiting to see what happens.

The lead horseman reigns his horse in and holds his hand up for the others to stop. The other two keep going, but they lower their weapons, and wheel their horses around on the other side of you. One of the archers calls from the back "Hey! What do ya bloody think ye're doin? They didn't surrender yet."

The man on the horse ignores the others and looks at Lasiar, "So, you want to talk Peacably, that's fine. You're welcome to peacably hand over your gold."

"Come friend, let's talk this over reasonably. I'm sure we can work something out so everyone will be happy with the outcome. Everyone needs gold, but there must be some way other than banditry to make gold in this world. I could give you a bit to help you get started, but if you think about it, this lifestyle is eventually going to lead you into an encounter with a stronger group that you mistakenly attack or else law enforcement and it could mean death or imprisonment, which ust isn't worth it. Do you have a family waiting for you at home?"

*She lets him answer while adding in at some later point.*

"By the way, you said earlier that you knew we were heading this way--how did you figure it out? That was actually some pretty good detective work--maybe you could be scouts or trappers."

(OOC: Diplomacy is +16--she isn't in a rush)
