Niobe's Dilemma (Manzanita Judging)

OOC: There's a couple of questions asked that wasn't answered by the barkeep - was it an oversight or did he just ignore me?

While waiting, Ogrin looks at the buildings nearby. Are there any inns across the street? Are there any places where one could climb up relatively undetected and try to spy whatever is going on upstairs through a window?

As his friends return, Ogrin starts walking and motions to them to follow, before the local constabulary arrives to take them into custody... He talks while they move.

"A little. There's a luxury suite upstairs named the 'Champions room' which is rented for several days to come. I don't know who is in there, but I heard some people move around. I didn't press the matter, or ask if our friend there is associated with them as that might make them more paranoid. I did learn that this was where the lords and their champions stayed when going to the gladiator arena before, though today it seems they sell the services to whoever can afford it. Perhaps the gladiator angle isn't that far-fetched after all...

"Oh, and Lasair, the barkeep may refer to you as lady Lasair. Should you go in there, wear something... nice."

*Lasair sighs.*

"Continuing further in this way seems pointless. Now they know of us, which means we've lost the only advantage we had. As to 'Lady' Lasair, well, they don't know I'm Lasair, so it doesn't really matter, I guess."

Rasereit Vundinn, Dwarven Barbarian

Rasereit coughs. "So. The bloke we're tryin' to nab jus' got away. We're foreigners, shootin' crossbows at a man, who we've no proof o' doin' any wrong, in the middle of a crowded street. We've got a minor lead on some kind o'... gladiatorial contest? Ah'm not sure Ah un'nerstan' that 'un. What d'we do nah? Do we explain ourselves to the guard, or do we hope they jus' don' care?"

"We have met with some of the guard and they understand our purposes, if not our actions. If they do come for us, I will speak to them and explain our actions and the gravity of the situation at hand"

Wil pauses to consider the current situation with the inn. "I am of noble blood, thus is this farce unneeded. What questions do you need me to ask?"

Rasereit stares at Ogrin. After a long pause, he coughs, loudly.

OOC: Sorry for going AWOL. Life and work has been hectic the past week, and I got unexpectedly called away to California this week (I'm based in Europe if you hadn't noticed). Expect posting to be sporadic until the middle of next week.

Ogrin shrugs. Whatever's done is done.
"I could keep this place watched for some time, following those that seem to come from the upper floors when and if they emerge."

The guards indeed arive to the scene of the comotion after a short bit.

[sblock=Ogrin]You notice someone peek out from the upstairs as the guards arive.[/sblock]

"There were reports of a disturbance here," the lead guard says, and then pauses, "You two (Inditacting Lasair and Wilhelm) are the ones hired by Lord Pician, what happened here?"

OOC: Sorry, was waiting for you all to do something...

(OOC: If there's time before the guards get here--)

"Wilhelm Irontower, you go into the place and just head up to that upper room as if you belonged. If anyone tries to stop you, say you have an appointment. If they ask your name, say it is Zidaniel. Ogrin Brutalfist can sneak after him unseen, and perhaps Rasereit Vundinn and I can stay here in case whoever our quarry was meeting with tries to escape out the window, and to talk to the guards."
