Niobe's Dilemma (Manzanita Judging)

Carsis
"I'm glad you could make it Lasair, you too Troi. If anyone can bring back Niobe, I'm sure you two can,"

Troi nods as Carsis joins them.

"Our understandin' is that you were th' one who kidnapped 'er, er whatever. What's yer side a th' story?"

"I have not set foot in Earling since I left so my rother, who loved Niobe and was much bbetter suited to be a lord than I, could marry her. Niobe is a fine woman, and I would have considered her a good friend, as I told Lasair back in Covington, but I did not love her like my brother did," Carsis says.

"All I can promise is to see if any of my remaining contacts know of anything, and try to pass it along to you. I realy can't make myself known any more than that. But it is likely that it is someone who hopes to destabilize the family's power, particularly by blaming me. I can also offer you some coin, if that will help," Carsis sets down a small back between Lasair's and Troi's feet, "And I have more if you can save her. Please, is there anything else I can do to help?"

[sblock=Lasair]You find no indication that Carsis is lying in anything he says. Beyond that, there is a deep concern for what happens, and it does not seem to be a concern for his own well being.[/sblock]

Carsis smiles and chuckles under his disguise. "That's a name I left long ago Lasair. Please, call me Carsis."

"If I find out any more, I will try to send you a message, and while I'm removed enough from politics to not know who might have it in for my brother and family, someone does, and the scandel of the lost older brother holding the future Barroness hostage while the Barron lies on his death bed could allow for a rival to claim the title."

"Thank you, that is all I can ask," Carsis says.

The waitress comes by again with a bowl of stew and mug of ale for Carsis. He thanks her and says "Come, eat, I invited you here, it is only right that I host you. The stew is good here, and the cider there is not alcoholic, as I remember you don't drink such Lasair."

"None that I have found in these western lands, at least...and I do not do so except in extraordinary circumstances, as it clouds the mind and leaves it unguarded."

Carsis chuckles between bites of stew and nods, "Yes, it can do that. As with most things, moderation is key."

Jaan Saaresar, male human Servant of the Greenman

Jaan doesn't even really consider following Trio and Lasair. They both are capable enough, and Jaan would expect them to respect his resquests if the situation was reversed.

Jaan lounges around near the carriage. The journey has been pleasent enough, if a little dull. While Jaan does not wish for trouble, he does feel that he should be doing something. Jaan whiles away the time writing letters; one to his family, and one to the head of his order. They are quite short, by neccessity. Nothing much of note has happened. Jaan plans to try and send them from Earling, which is much closer to his homeland than Orussus.
