I don't mind constructive criticism or even input from players who want to play Next one day but want X feature from Y edition (whether it's 4th or not). But when I see asinine things such as put healing surges or encounters or milestones or AEDU back into Next, it's really annoying, because not only is it futile (the designers said they won't, because the 1/2/3e/PF player base has spoken and they need us to stay afloat more than we need Next), it just lowers the signal-to-noise ratio and borders on trolling.
Next is not 4e, not will it ever be, nor will it ever need to be. It should take what it can from it, that's good, but find a way to not make it an annoyingly obtuse and needlessly complex game to play. It's time people forget some of the essential 4e features that are never going to get into Next, and come up with ideas on what could work or be implemented in Next given its design mandate (a faster game that has more classic D&D appeal). They've managed to do that, to my astonishment, in many areas (cantrips substituting for at-wills for wizards, metamagic built-in to spells)
Again, if people don't want to play that game, IMO they shouldn't even be discussing it, and it borders on trolling. Once you've said enough times that "I will never play Next" it's time to stop posting in threads specifically tagged "D&D Next".
I don't go into 4e threads with anything but constructive posts, but when I'm writing my opinion in a Next thread, of course my bad experiences with 4e (and some good experiences too, no doubt) will colour my posts, but that's par for the course, you cannot design a new edition without taking into account the past (even if only to say "this is something we SHOULDN'T do, because it complexitifes the game without the added benefit of realism or fun).
