No buzz for the 2011 Campaign Setting?

Well, whatever mistakes they made with FR...they didn't make them in Eberron. IMO, the Eberron Campaign Setting is one of the best 4e supplements, period.

Once bitten, twice shy. :)

Besides, I haven't much need for settings, and Eberron isn't my cup of tea, nor is the gritty Dark Sun. If I were to buy something else, I wouldn't want any novels written for it (no canon to worry about)... which was why I lost interest in the Nentir Vale book.

I can't cite sources, but I remember more than one interview/comment by WotC folks about a setting after DS that would be different. FR covered "traditional high fantasy", Eberron "modern fantasy", and DS "post-apocalyptic".

I don't remember anything beyond that, but they emphasized it would be something they hadn't done before. I can't see Nentir Vale fitting that role, unless there's something I've been missing all this time.

Yep, I remember this too. Which really disappoints me as I badly want to see a new Mystara!

Edit: I don't think they will ever reprint Mystara. That world was very traditional, being one of the original worlds and all. If they left it as it is, it wouldn't be that far removed from Greyhawk. If they made big changes, then it wouldn't be Mystara. I think this is mostly what keeps Mystara as a world that will never be again...

I hope it's not Dragonlance and here's my reason why:

Forgotten Realms.

If you want to see a 4e DL setting, expect another cataclysm soon.

Why not use Dark Sun as a comparison, and expect a reboot?

Of course, Dragonlance has a few strikes against it.

1) They killed the DL novel line.
2) It doesn't seem too popular around WotC offices.
3) There may be a strong feeling that DL works better as an adventure path than a full-blown setting.

Nice thing about the Eberron novels is that they aren't canon for the campaign setting.

Unfortunately, I think you're right. Really what makes Mystara great is the massive history and backstory, which fortunately doesn't require any mechanic changes.

I'd like a PoL book as well, considering the core book is based on it and that most adventures are based in it, it's odd that they haven't put out a book for it yet. So it'd be nice to get a book on it.

However, I don't know if we'll see any other full on campaign books after Darksun unless they do something radically different to what's gone on before. If multiple soft cover reference books are the future then they may just do basic books covering different settings.
