D&D 5E No Feats Allowed?

It helps keep the power level down as well though.

Not sure I agree. Sure, it will keep someone from getting that +5 bonus on passive perception checks, and it will prevent some 1d4 extra damage from polearm master, and a few martial builds that are pretty good. But ... I'm not really sure how it keeps the power level down, when you've got Wizards that can literally rain down hell and throw fireballs left and right, turn into dragons or instantly destroy enemies (with a save, sure, but ...). There isn't a whole lot feats bring to the table that enhances magic, unless you're a gish type of character. The power level is already so high that feats just gives more options.

I generally think feats are fine, but they could have used some level prerequisites (e.g. 8th level for SS/PAM/GWM) because by that point the casters start to make the melee feel useless.

That is a valid point, I think. I agree with you on that, if you'll read my other reply just above here.

I think dipping into other classes doesn't give you proficiency in their saving throws. The only way to get a prof in a save is to take feats (resilient).

He was specifically talking about taking your first level in Fighter to get Con save proficiency and heavy armor proficiency, then advance in Wizard.

I've got players who take nothing but feats, and I've got players who do both. And I've got one guy who won't take feats at all. They're pleased with their choices and I don't really care.

Spellcasters often take resilient/warcaster and the martials get to play with the -5/+10 feats. I would not mind seeing what happens i you take those options away.

ASIs become much less worthwhile after the first 2, especially harming Fighters and Rogues (who have extra ASIs) and Moon Druids (who are rather SAD). S&B and TWF gishes are very nerfed, and casters become more likely to revert to stereotypical melee avoidance. Crossbows go away. Multiclassing increases, because that's the only way to get the saving throw and armor proficiencies (and other stuff) your class doesn't already give you. Classes that get their bonus actions from feats rather than class abilities also have to look elsewhere. Diminishing choices does reduce power overall, but unevenly. With SS/PM/etc out of the picture, Eldritch Blast becomes a premier at-will damage ability, and Warlocks don't need to look afield for their bonus action. God Wizards look more godly, since the only feat they really care about is Resilient Con. Etc. I'm not sure these are the droids you're looking for.....

Spellcasters would still summon monsters to break action economy, throw fireballs left and right, cripple encounters with awesome CC and just radiate awesomeness.

I allow the PCs to learn Feats every four chacrcter levels, although I have changed SS & GWM from -5/+10 to a straight +3 dmg bonus, and the Alert feat to grant a +5 bonus to passive Perception rather than "immune to surprise". I also allow multi classing, but everytime you multi-class you sacrifice the ability to learn a Feat. Also, I allow a +1 ASI every two charatcer levels. :)
