No love for the stupid wizard?

Wanna play a character, dedicated to a single class from level 1 to 20. Gotta be a wizard (or a wizard concept-based alternative with same spellcasting ability). This guy is stupid, with a natural 6 Int; not so notable in other mental attributes.

What does the core rule book offer the highly stupid wizard? How about a supplemental rule book? What feat paths are available to make the most use of his stupids? I mean, as is, he can't cast any spells.

Might as well play a fighter with a 3 STR! :) The only thing I can suggest is a sorcerer - that's the closest to your concept.

Well, a fighter with str 3 could still work. Make him use the crossbow!

Anyway, with Int 6 he can't be wizard, because he's simply too stupid to grasp the concepts of wizardry.

"Wait, magic what? What's casting again? Every time I try to use that spell-thingy here, I forget what I said at the beginning of the sentence when I'm halfway through. Today, I want to prepare 3 spells: Identify, Magic... that one Magic one, you know, shoots at people. The other spell I forgot."

The concept of wizardly magic is based entirely of memorizing a lot of complex things. With such a low Int score, his memory is way to bad, and his cognitive abilities aren't up to comprehending even the simplest concepts of magic.

The only hope for spellcasting you have is to use another class, one that doesn't depend on remembering and understanding. As Henry said, the sorcerer is a good idea.

You could always play Rincewind the Wizzard - that one can't cast spells, either. Be sure to get the dash and run feats, and get a Luggage! :D Your motto is not "Run today to fight another day", but "run today to run again another day." The to part of fleeing isn't important. "Away from" is important. Make sure to tell everyone that you're a racist. You love races, you were born running. ;)

I have run some one-shot games called Orcz! where the PC's are all orcs. One of them is Mugnutz the Blue, a Wizard. Another of the PC's is Thag the Apprentice. Thag always wanted to be a Wizard but he's way too stupid (6 Int). However, his parents threatened to break various important bones in Mugnutz if he didn't take Thag on as an apprentice.

So, Thag follows Mugnutz around doing menial tasks. Meanwhile, Mugnutz has managed to teach Thag a few elven curse words that he says are "magic words" and casts some minor magic when Thag says them so that Thag thinks he's the one doing the magic. He also made a "Wizards Staff" for Thag (it's a great club) called "The Thagomizing Thagomizer of Thag". Thag somehow thinks that whomping people with his "staff" is magical.

This character has been hilarious every time he's been played. Though emulating this would require the right sort of campaign and you don't want the schtick to get old or tiresome.

I guess what I'm suggesting is playing another class and attributing whatever the character does to his "Wizardry".

Now this is golden - I could play to level six without spells, then take the leadership feat and get a follower, who's a real wizard. Or maybe my concept calls for the cohort to be a butt-ugly sorcerer. Damn this is hard :\

Hmmm. Tough one.
Especially since you didn't tell his his attribute advantages, only his huge weakness. We've got no alternatives to work with.

.

And the reason you want to do this is why? I'm sorry, but I gotta ask.

I'm sure the other PC's are thrilled at the idea of a wizard who can't cast spells. Yes, that was sarcasm. :D
