No spell resistance on energy attack spells?

The thing with the Evocation school is that it's mostly confined to blasting, whereas other schools have diversity, and as we have all learned, diversity is important to success in the modern workplace.

Evocation actually does have a bit of BC: there's a lot of spells that move the targets around or knock them prone. Defenestrating Sphere is one of my favorites, for example.
You do have to do some splatbook-diving, though.

I'm fine with the Orb spells not allowing SR. I just hate them being conjurations. "Give them SR and move 'em to evocation" doesn't actually do anything for evocation, other than get a slight smile at seeing conjuration getting ever so slightly nerfed.

That's not what I was about though. Not only do I hate that Evocation gets the short end of the stick (especially compared to Conjuration). I also think that it's silly that some magic is affected by SR, and some isn't for no reason at all. It'd do at least a little bit for overall game balance (i.e. casters-noncasters). Balancing out Evo and Con a bit is just a nice side effect.

Thus, I think SR should be made more meaningful, so it can act as a real defense against at least most magic, not against just some magic (which is incidentally not really used much because it's a bit gimped anyway). If SR were any help against BC, summons etc., this would make your friendly neighbourhood melee guy a much-needed resource against demons and golems and stuff. I also think that monsters with natural SR (or 13th+ level Monks etc.) should be able to decide whether to use it vs. any given effect on a case-by-case basis, without taking an action.
