I thought he explicitly did not change to Cyric.
Man, now I gotta dig up info from like 2 or 3 editions ago! Hang on...

The death of Bane during the Time of Troubles in 1358 devastated Fzoul. Following this, and an encounter with Banes successor, Cyric, Fzoul reluctantly converted to the worship of the new god of strife, death, and murder.

No love (should I say hate? :ROFLMAO:) for the Dragon of Tyr? This guy is awesome. Burning Athasian dreams, 25d12 of superheated sand at a time.

Seconded, and with a second, more “metal” picture.

A lot of other villains in various modules and campaigns attempt to take over a world/ascend to godhood.

He’s about the only one who begins the campaign have already achieved victory some ~2,000 years prior . . . Namely by permanently damaging the planet’s ecosystem.

Oh and godhood? Pffft, he tried his hand at being worshipped like a god, only to find it boring. It wasn’t enough of a challenge for him.

Seriously, his 2e stats are ridiculously OP.

Gaming is fun, and fun is for everyone
I just posted a quote from the DMG.

Doesn't make a lot of sense considering in Dragonlance Takhisis dies but in Forgotten Realms (or Baator) she's alive and imprisoned, but the DMG does indeed say in a magic item's description that Takhisis is Tiamat's name on Krynn.

Gods can have different manifestations on different worlds. A true death on one would just result in permanent banishment from it.

Legend
Maybe not the greatest of all time, or most well known, but the ones I have had fun with torturing..errr..springing on...players over the years

Acererak (going by several different names depending on the setting)
The Slavers
Sanbalet
The (Chaotic) Cleric at The Keep
The Lich King (13A)
An unnamed EHP of Bane in my FR campaign. they never found out his name and it drove them crazy.
Zargon.

OK, I'm creating the poll now. I'm including all those who posted a villian name and a picture. I'll post the link once the poll is ready.
