Gish as a term for Fighter/wizards was coined in the 1st ed FF. It was what Githzari (or githyanki?) called thier multiclassed warriors. the WotC boards have a great thread on creating Gish - less usefull now with the duskblade IMO. perhaps someone can post a link.

Next round should have 3 cast offs as well, unless there are 2 clear unfavorates and a pack behind them. This shouldn't go on forever the end is as intresting as the process. Unless you want 20 more threads.

Hexblades have one advantage over duskblades: They are spontaneous casters so you can take the Dragon Disciple PrC (a decidedly mediocre class) without taking a level in sorcerer.

Like every round so far, I've voted for the Dragon Shaman, which jumped to an early lead. Somehow I think I'll be voting for it again the next round...and the one after that...

A gish is a githyanki fighter-mage. The term's been around since the AD&D Fiend Folio, but in recent years it's been adopted for any fighter-spellcaster combo. First place I saw it used in this context was on WoTC's character optimization boards - a terrifying place, those can be.

I thought it was tied into the githyanki and didn't see the connection. It's still pretty tenuous (githyanki are best known for psionics).

Jargon is supposed facilitate communication, not hinder it. I vote this term off ;)

Sticking with my rule of Psionics first then Incarnum classes (if they outlast psionics). I don't know where I will go after that.

I'm just dropping them to 2 cast offs (until we get to around 10).

Also, if there are ties I intend to throw off the tied people as well (at least until we get down to 10 classes). The poll is timed and starting a new poll to break ties isn't worth the effort until towards the end (indeed, maybe I won't consider this until down to 5 classes).

I don't have my githyanki info at hand (gf is using it all right now), but I believe the term "gish" is actually referring to multiclassing in general. True, mostly multiclass spellcaster, but I believe any multiclass amongst the githyanki is listed until the "gish" catagory.

Hexblade is going down. Its a mediocre to weak PC class, that makes for overpowered throwaway mooks due to how long the hexblade's curse lasts. Fighting your way through a bunch of 3rd level hexblades is decidedly more of a pain than a group of fighters.

If I was going to be a guy who cast spells in armor, buffed and debuffed, I'd just be a cleric/fighter combo.

This was the 1st round I actually had to think about it, but I went with Hexblade. I love the flavor, but it is a really weak class when you get right down to it.
