Non-Lawful/Good paladin/holy/unholy warrior?

No it's I who owe you an apology. I just looked at a few prices. Complete Warrior, Draconomicon, Book of Righteous (not righteousness, darn magic!) and Fiend Folio and Amazon beat them both in price, plus they have free shipping...

I shall look into your share the love thread. ;)

PS pay that card off every month...

I generally do, but I found out I have zero interest until mid-February. So I'm guessing car insurance and paying off estimated federal income taxes comes first. :(

Which is why I am only buying these items because I have a gift certificate, and why I decided not to pick up another 40 ESDs from svgames, in spite of their 20%-25% off deal. :( Ah, well, when I get that full-time job, I'm SO going to be completing my 0D&D to AD&D2E collection (electronic versions primarily), as well as picking up more than $50 a month of gaming stuff...

1. That's complicated. I allow holy warriors for every god/goddess, but its always the appropriate holy warrior. I wouldn't allow a paladin of Pelor or Kord, but I would allow a Sentinel of Pelor and an Avenger of Kord.

2. The holy warrior needs to match the alignment of his/her deity.

I haven't incorporated anything other than plain o' Blackguard yet. I unfortunately missed the issue with the unholy warriors. Anyone want to hint at what made them different, exactly?

Question 1: Do you, or would you, allow gods/goddess to have paladins that do not have lawful good cleric alignments?

Paladins? No! Other classes of the appropriate faiths? Yes! They would NOT be called Paladins, however!

Question 2: If you do allow the above are the paladins the same alignment as the god/goddess or do they just need to fall into the cleric alignment?

The same alignment.

Question 3: Do you have balance between good verus evil?

I would try to, yes.

The alignment section has names for these "classes", by the way... LE (Devilish) Dominators, CE (Demonic) Destroyers, CG (Righteous) Rebels, etc., etc. That's a good place to start!

If I were doing D&D (and, obviously, I'm not!), each LG Paladin would have the levels at which they gain no new powers filled with an appropriate power related to their deity... A Paladin of a LG Water god might have Water-breathing ability, for instance, then later acquire immunity to pressure/bends, then still later cold, etc. A LG Paladin of a fire god might gain immumity to flame, and then later some fire spells, etc.

Non-LG classes (can't call'em Paladins, and "(Un)Holy Warriors" is a bit unwieldy) should have powers on par with the Paladin, but not neccesarily the same... The "Crusader" Paladin is based upon the Crusader of history, with all the trappings of Catholicism, Chivalry, and Medieval Knighthood. "Divine Warriors" of Tulkas probably wouldn't, but would be more like Monks who specialize in wrestling. Etc....

hmm

paladins are essentially the chosen warrior of whatever diety they serve. so, any god could technically have a warrior embued with their own particular powers to fight their enemies and uphold their creed. perhaps those warrriors shouldn't be called paladins. Maybe Holy Warriors instead?

I'll echo Steverooo's sentiments here. Paladins? No. Others related to but not called paladins? Sure. (I've adapted the 2e "Crusader" to 3e.)

Of course, IMC paladins are not "holy warriors". Never have been. They are warriors who only care about lawfulness and good deeds - any deity's concerns (whether or not they worship a deity) come a far second.
Question 2: If you do allow the above are the paladins the same alignment as the god/goddess or do they just need to fall into the cleric alignment?
My crusaders only need to fall into the cleric alignment.
Question 3: Do you have balance between good verus evil?
Sure.

Wow seems allot of people are hung up on a choice of a word... I wish I could say I was shocked but I'm not. :(

Anyhow I will edit so that it reads paladin/holy/unholy warrior, okay? :)
