North Carolina Game Day IV: May 8

I'd be interested in seeing what other come up with. None of the games that have been mentioned so far have struck a cord with me. Although, a Freeport game with Henry could rock.

Looking forward to seeing you too, CL. I hope that your confidence that you'll be there has everything to do with a supportive and understanding fiance and nothing to do with your wedding being off. ;)

I'm working on getting her to ride down as well, and come to dinner on Friday night. I'd be hard pressed to get her to game on Saturday, but we've got friends in Chapel Hill that she could visit with.

  • Spycraft ("The Replacement Spy-Killers")
  • ORIGINAL D&D (Fightning Men, Clerics, and Magic-Users only allowed) - give some people a chance to see how it really was! (Heck, I'd do it just to see if Diaglo would drive from Atlanta...:D)
  • Continuum ("Invitation to Dance" - one of the best time-travelling games ever developed!)
  • d20 Modern (a sequel to "Department 7 - Zombie Fighters")
  • Freeport (D&D in a swashbucklin', freebootin', scurvy-pirate settin'! Arrh!)

Henry, have you decided what you're going to run? I'd like to call dibs on a spot in any of these, but I'd especially like to play in Spycraft, Modern, or Freeport.

Rel,

Chances are ~ 60/40 (and getting better) that I will be around for NCGD IV...

If so, I could probably be talked into running a scenario out of FG History, something nice and action packed (D&D 3E, mid-level pregenerated).

Hey, do it as NWN module and let me play from Europe ;)

Just a quick note: I've decided on a Game for the Game Day. It will be:

"Arkham Squad" - a d20 Modern Game.
5 slots (6th one is already taken)
d20 Modern in a world of Paranatural Horror.

I'm going to do something different this gameday - I know some people like to make their own characters, so I will send a 3-page character creation sheet to those who sign up. For those who want to sign up but don't know much about d20 Modern, not to fear! I will also provide some pregenerated characters, as well - you bring your brain, I'll bring the fun!

I will post to Neal later on to get the game scheduled - does anyone see a scheduling tool over there, or do we just need to talk to Neal?

I was looking for that feature myself. I'd just post about it on the boards over there. If you don't hear back from Neal in a couple days, I'll get you an answer via e-mail.

I'll step up to the plate to run...

Ok, I'd like to run a game this next gameday to try out some stuff. I had a blast just playing at the last gameday, but I'll go back to running this next time I think.

Tentatively: I'll be running a 3e Planescape game, neutral to evil PCs. I'm not sure yet if I'll have pre-gen characters and/or allow for player generated ones.

Not sure yet what level I'll have everyone at, however assume at least 14th level, possibly higher to allow for players to use some of true Tanar'ri / Greater Yugoloths / higher Baatezu. I'm still banging out the concepts here, but I've got some good stuff.

And for what it's worth the events of the oneshot game will tie into and occur concurrently with the plots and timeline of my current Planescape campaign as detailed in my storyhour. ;)

Setting will be based on the lower planes or lower planar gatetowns of the Outlands, likely shifted towards the NE to LE side of things. This may alter if I have more interest in all things Tanar'ri versus all things Baatezu.

More details as I get a solid plot developed, but my gut instinct is to base the game out of Carceri and one of the Yugoloth strongholds there with the PC being a hired out or otherwise "made cooperative" by the 'loths.

And 5 players max, no more than 2 of whom can be from my current batch of players. Toras you're one of those if you would like.

Since this hasn't made it to the schedule yet, I'd like to claim a spot now, and I'll sign up once it makes it to the schedule. I've also posted on the forums at the gameday site as well.

Possible Game...Thoughts?

Greetings All,

Chances are now 75% that I will make NCGC IV and I would like to run a game if there is interest. Rules will be DND 3E+ (a couple of house rules/3.5 pulldowns). Pre-generated PCs (provided prior to the game) of 6th-8th level. 6 players max.

TEASER

Castellan Verruca is the worst posting along the Legatian Wall. The commander, Senior Centurion C. Spurius Cimber, is known throughout the Imperial Legions as an effective, but brutal taskmaster. One of his sub-alterns, Junior Tribune M. Pontius Ventor, son of a powerful Senator, has recently gone missing and morale at the fort is reportedly in the cistern, with rumblings of mutiny. Your team from the Imperial Inspection Bureau has been tasked with (1) Discovering the true state of affairs at Castellan Verruca and (2) Recovering the Senator's son (or his body).

Your first night at the Castellan did not go well. Senior Centurion Cimber was barely cordial, clearly resenting your intrusion onto his turf. The simmering anger and resentment among the 400 legionnaires and 200 auxiliaries was palpable, especially among the "hard case" transfers from other posts. Many of your questions were met with stony silence and sullen glares.

The arrival of morning has not improved your lot. A reddish hue stains the sky and a hot, dry wind blows from the south out of the Demon's Anvil. You awaken to find the Castellan in an uproar. Senior Centurion Cimber was murdered during the night and the Castellan's only cistern was poisoned. Nearly half the garrison is down, some dead, some catatonic, some violently ill. Mutiny maybe afoot and a traitor (or traitors) are in your midst.

A shout from one of the watch towers draws all eyes to the south, where a growing dust cloud heralds the arrival of a Sythian warband. All eyes swivel back to you and you see fear in the eyes of decurions, optios and legionnaires alike. What do you do now?

Anyone interested?

That'd be me!

I tinkered with my admin capabilities over at the NCGD website yesterday. Hopefully I didn't screw anything up that Neal can't fix. I think you can now add games to the schedule so try it and let me know if it works. I didn't add one of my own because I was still undecided as to what I'm going to run and when I'm going to run it.

Since I'm planning on playing in Old One's game, I'll run mine in the opposing slot.
