North Texas Role Playing Convention

The con was a blast. I had a good time playing, ran my first official con event (an OD&D session in my Cromlech Tor dungeon), and got to sit on the megadungeon panel -- all of which was very cool.

Superb convention. I flew there from NC and don't regret a single dollar. Met great people and played in great OD&D and 1E games run by Philotomy, Grodog and Mythmere, as well as those of a couple of the founding fathers - Tim Kask and Rob Kuntz. The convention's tone was informal and friendly, plus, with only 70+ people in attendance, it was easy to get access to some of the hobby's great contributors. Paul Jaquays played in a couple of the same games I did. Pretty cool to look over and see him mapping out Grodog's Castle Greyhawk!

I'll definitely go back next year - and be recommending it from now until then to anyone with an appreciation for old school games.

It was great seeing old friends, and making new ones---even when PCs died horrible deaths (in some cases  :D ). The con grew quite a bit from last year---about 80 attendees vs. ~50 last year, and the location and organization were great.

If you're looking for some old-school gaming, it's well-worth the trip!

Thanks for the link to the pics, Allan. Looks like everyone was having a blast. :)

Indeed: you'd have been right at home, Mark :D

I'm definitely hoping to play in your game next year, Jason, and I thought the mega-dungeons panel went quite well, too. FYI for folks who are interested: the panels were all videoed, and Doug will post them on the site sometime later this week. There's talk about the seminars being streamed in near-real time next year, too.

Paul was my only repeat player from last year, and his map was brilliant---I'll have to ask him if he worked on multiple drafts of it, or simply got it right the first time as you guys were wandering around :D

Hear hear! :D
