Northern California Game Day (Any DMs out there?)

I'd be up for board gaming or card gaming, if we have more players than DM's.

I do have a proposal, if enough people are interested, and if we don't have enough DM's:

I could adjudicate a Gladiator Competition.
One similar to the Games of Death on the boards here, except it would be much smaller in scope, much lower level, and only fighter-types (to keep most magic problems out).
It would be a competition where you bring or borrow or buy (Great Escape has a HUGE selection of miniatures for sale) a miniature, and bring him into the Arena, and everyone hacks away at anyone they want until one is left standing.

I'm planning it wouldn't take an hour total.

If enough people say they want to play, I'll follow up with specifics, and you'd have to create a PC ahead of time, or bring one that follows the conventions.

You should definitely do that, Reap. I ran a 10th-level brawl two Chicago Gamedays ago We used a 28 point-buy and just the core books to build their own characters and see who had the one that could survive. We had a big model of a "abandoned" castle as the arena from the gamestore's window display. Lots of fun! :)

Sounds like a lot of fun reap, but I've found that short-attention-span board games (not a dig) don't go well with interaction intensive role-playing games, though your's sounds to be a mix of the two. The noise just gets outrageous. I know we couldn't compete with the Blood Bowl games in our store and I think BB is similar in execution to your concept. Of course, I'm usually in the minority on these kinds of things, so have at it if there's interest. I'm only a player this time (I hope).

To commemerate the return of the boards in the wee hours of June 26th, I'm pulling this off of page 3! Any NorCal DMs out there? C'mon, one more d20 guy or gal. :D

I'm not adverse to a couple of tables running Questus - The Whispering Woodwind if anyone is in a pinch for what to use. Just drop me an Email so I can take care of it for you.

And do not forget, you NorCal-ers, to sign up for my contest! :)

Well, while we wait, how should we do sign-ups for the games?

With people spread across a few boards, it's going to be difficult to really organize this. However, if most of these boards are non-d20, I suppose that clears things up a bit.

Should it be "first come first serve," random drawing, or a fight to the death in the PIT OF DOOM!?
