Maybe the old Isle of Dread would be a great nostalgia adventure. The players would remember it, but not well enough to be able to metagame.

If we're talking specific modules I'd throw down Quest for the Heartstone fo' shure! The roster of included good and evil characters to play was rad, not to mention the introduction of the Hook Horror. It might also be the toy tie-in that gets my nostalgia going too.

In my current C&C campaign my group found themselves, at around 3rd level, in a major maritime city (Ascalon) on the world of Aihrde (Erde), and when I sensed their interest in exploring the seas, X1 The Isle of Dread popped immediately to mind - so I grabbed it and off we went.

For me nostalgia would be tied to running a B/X game, or using BFRPG to run a basic game like I first started out with. Any "nostalgia" tied to 3.0 would be more for a setting - Greyhawk or Kalamar, as those are the two worlds I ran 3.0 campaigns in. Never moved to 3.5, so I'm removed from this current edition rift.

Well if its modules rather than systems we are talking about, I would love to run some of the original Undermountain jaunts. Or the Bloodstone Pass modules.

Do you picture yourself, in a few years, possibly playing a 3.5 based campaign for nostalgia purposes?

A whole campaign? Unless 4E turns out to suck horribly, I can't see myself going back to 3.5 for the length of an entire campaign. If I decide to run a nostalgia campaign, it'll more likely be under a system that has real nostalgia value to me, like Classic/BECMI, or conceivably AD&D (1E or 2E).

I might possibly run an adventure or two under 3.5, but that's about it, and only if the rest of my gaming group wants it.

How long do you think it'll be before you feel like taking a trip 'back' to 3.5, if ever?

As stated above, I doubt I personally will ever feel like taking that particular trip--if I go back, it'll be a lot further than 3.5E. So it really depends on my fellow gamers, and I can't speak for them.

If you ever do switch back, how will 4e influence the way you play 3.5?

I can't really answer this until I've played 4E.

What would you rather pick up, an old module you never got a chance to play, or some new OGL game?

That depends entirely on the new OGL game. It's not inconceivable that an OGL game could be released that would make me abandon 4E entirely, although it would likely involve thoroughly gutting the OGL. If I'm looking at the current crop of OGL games, then I'd probably pick an old module over them.

I do have a recently acquired copy of "Return to the Temple of Elemental Evil," and while I was thinking about running it before 4E's release, there really isn't time now... but if I ran it later, I'd be much more likely to convert it to 4E.

Or the Bloodstone Pass modules.
Bloodstone Pass is pure awesome! This sounds like it would make for an amazing conversion, especially given that Orcus is due for a comeback in the new MM. Actually I can easily imagine this series being given some Expedition treatment in the non-distant future.

Simply put, if I'm running, I'd use Grim Tales. If I'm not, it's whatever the DM is using. However, DM prep issues being the reason I left v3.5, I have to admit it would be a slim chance that I'll be in the position of running, so it would be whatever the DM wants to use.

With Regards,
Flynn

3.x annoys the piss out of me. Part of the reason I'm in favor of 4E is that even if I don't like it, I will probably like it more than I do 3.x, and most of the groups who play 'whatever the current edition is' will probably switch to it.

If I want nostalgia, I'll go back to BECMI, 1E, or something like that. My character sheets will be handwritten on graph paper, pizza-stained, with metal band logos crudely sketched across the top. It'll be awesome.
