Mods: This really isn't exactly an off-topic poll, rather, I'm trying to guage what the "cross interest" factor of something is amongst gamers.

Ok. Of the people I game with regularly, I'd say probably half of them have at least a single sword. At least three others between the groups actualy have multiple weapons armour, and some period clothing (Some of us visit ren fairs and similar).

Yet, the other half of the people I game with have absolutely NO cross interest with things like that. Half of that half I would bet could maim themselves with a sharp kitchen knife and wouldn't know a scimitar from a katana outside of game statistics.

Myself, I have nearly three dozen assorted weapons (swords of assorted types, mostly, but a few axes, a mace, two hammers, a couple other things), a nearly a full suit of "cobble-plate" (It's platemail after a fashion, but it's cobbled from a dozen differnet sources and looks very strang to wear...), a chainmail shirt and coif, multiple items of period clothing, and some assorted other things (pouches, metal goblets, etc).

*EDIT*

It doesn't have to be authentic (gods no), nor does it have to be european. Katanas are fine, or a jian, or a tommahawk, or whatever. Heck, even a civil-war era cavalry sword would count for this poll, though I'm gonna draw the line there :)

I own a few pices of medieval armor and weapons as well as a bunch of modern but hand made daggers and swords, they are locked up from my kids and are for show, even though I studied martial arts for years it is not safe :D

I also have a kevlar vest and a gun, is that "modern swords and armor"? I am in law enforcement BTW not a guy who lives in a bunker and waits for the world to end so he can live out his post-apocalyptic PC:eek:

Wait -- are katana medieval? Or jo or bo? Darn. What counts as medieval for this poll?

I have three katana, two wakizashi, two bo, one jo, and three bokken. One hakama.

I probably voted wrong. Oh well.

I have a large bastard sword, scabbard, and a big sword-holding belt for it (actually, the belt is meant to hold a large rapier, and so the sword hangs at an agle, which I like).

I have every intention of adding to my collection. I need a light one-hander, and probably a warhammer as well.

in the pass year I gave enough wall hangers away to outfit a group
Two complete sets of armour
1 set of alum costume mail
made 4 coifs
working on 2 more.

Very few of my friends are into obtaining period weaponry or equipment. One of my group has a Scottish Claymore, a Batleth (Klingon Sword), a Mekleth (klingon Dagger), and a "bo-Batleth" (a wooden Batleth that he machined himself).

I have a combat knife, a pistol, and a rifle. The last two aren't for show.

Though several of my group have fierarms for protection, very few have a strong interest in show-weaponry, or even authentic swords.
