[Nov] What Are You Playing?

Actually it would be "not different at all" (except 16:9 widescreen, which isn't worth a Wii no matter how you slice it).

Hmm, I thought the graphics were at least slightly improved.

And the GCN version is supposed to control better, too (as of a few months ago, though)...

Based on the last couple of things I've read the Wiimote control had some issues and I wasn't liking the sound of it at all, I'd o.k. with and would actually prefer the OoT/MM/WW style.

And I'm could swear that in the last issue of EGM they said that the old style of control wouldn't be available on the Wii version, though I couldn't find it when I wanted to show someone else.

Those old M&M games were some of the best rpgs EVER. That's what gameplay is all about, nevermind smancy graphics.

I know I didn't dislike them, but for whatever reason I just didn't play the games much.

Of course I'm and Ultima fan. Damn you EA, bastards!

DD is okay, pretty much a Diablo 2 clone, not as linear, and not a continual clickfest, a lot more role playing involved, though I still wouldn't call this game an rpg.

Hmm, makes me second guess whether to actually play it or not.

This is true, although I am interested in the controller. We'll see.

Me not so much, at least for this game, see above.

Good point, although that would mean spending money on a game I already have. Not that I haven't done that before... *hmm*

Have you opened it yet? Know someone else who would like it? Instant present!

Though truthfully it probably isn't worth the extra money unless you think the online play and other additions mean enough, which you're pack schedule I'd doubt would accomadate.

Nope, not one bit. Nintendo has confirmed they are identical builds (except for the aforementioned 16:9 widescreen for the Wii version).

I'm buing the GCN version expressly for that reason (though reports of a very recent build say that the control has vastly improved and is now pretty good). I'm not convinced it's for me, especially for Zelda, so I'm sticking the the 'tried-and-true' GCN/standard controller version (and since I have a GCN anyways...).

That is correct. IGN has written about this a few times. Wii-mote only for the Wii build.

Sadly, widescreen is a big deal for me. I'm heavily considering buying a Wii just for that...

It's nutty, I know.

Yes, yes it is. :D (I can say that because I live with him.)

As for me, I loves the FFXII. Unfortunately, it's slightly different enough from X that I am kind of getting motion sick from the mobile camera. I'm also playing Marvel: Ultimate Alliance and Super Smash Bros Melee (Kirby's taunt is absolutely adorable).

I'd really like to get through XML so I can start the sequel, and I'd like to finish Champions of Norrath, but compared to the BG PS2 games (which I love--though the original is far superior to the second), it's kind of slow and boring, so I doubt that'll happen.

On PC, I'd love to get through BG, but every time I stop playing, when I come back to it I've forgotten what I'm supposed to do. And in such a way that the journal doesn't help me. But, because I'm crazy (read: anal-retentive), I want to finish BG before I play any of the sequels or Icewind Dale. Sigh.

Still playing WoW, but down to about 10 hours a week.

My two new games are...

Battlefield 2142: Very fun, got a couple buddies who play, so it's nice to be able to squad up and have some mayhem!

And...

Age of Wonders: Shadow Magic: This was recommended to me by people on this forum when I asked for a Master of Magic type game. I'm a bit undecided about this one. Every time I start getting into it, I run into some niggling little detail that throws me off. Haven't given up on it though...

Final Fantasy XII. It has consumed my soul, chewed it out and spat it out on the midterm paper I should have been writing.

Of course as soon as Medeval Total War II comes out I'm going to have to get a wireless PS2 controler so I can play both at once.

After nearly 7 years I just bought me a new computer (E6600, 2 GB Ram, NVIDIA 9750GT graphic card) and since sunday I'm playing NWN2. I like it so far...
I want to check out Oblivion and Dark Messiah of Might and Magic with this new toy.

Greetings
Firzair

I loved the Ultima series and for some reason Divine Divinity gives me a sort of Ultima feel, though I'm not sure why since the game plays vastly different. Maybe it's the sheer size of the world. And the music. The music kicks ass.

Hmm, makes me second guess whether to actually play it or not.

You can get DD now for dirt, so I'd recommend you give it a try.
