November and Beyond

Pants,

Well maybe in December's excerpts we'll get a better feel for it. Even so I'm at least positive of one thing: It can't be worse than Races of Destiny! :p :)

Sure it can be. You just don't have enough imagination. :)

Funnily enough, I recently stumbled on a set of reviews of the Races books that...
...gave Races of Destiny 5 stars
...gave Races of Stone 2 stars
...gave Races of the Wild 3 stars
...and gave Races of the Dragon 4 stars

Cheers!

What are the CR ranges that you could use a Gargantuan Dragon for? I'm interested in getting one but only if I actually got to use it, not as a display piece only. I can picture my players' faces now as I put it down on the table. (Insert Evil GM laugh here) :]

Not as much as you would if you put the Colossal Red down. (That's a *big* figure).

Gargantuan Blue is ancient or older, or CR 21+

Cheers!

Thanks Merric. I suspected as much. Are there any lower CR Dragons out there. I'm pretty sure that there were some large or huge ones released. I imagine that the cost to buy them though would be almost as much as the Gargantuan Dragon since they were in random packs.

You can get a Large Blue Dragon in the current edition of the Basic Game.

Otherwise:
* Large Black Dragon - likely in Unhallowed
* Huge Black Dragon - in War of the Dragon Queen, being ridden by sorcerer.
* Large Blue Dragon - Basic Game & Deathknell
* Huge Blue Dragon - none
* Large Green Dragon - War Drums
* Huge Green Dragon - none
* Large Red Dragon - Dragoneye
* Huge Red Dragon - Giants of Legend
* Large White Dragon - none (zombie in Deathknell)
* Huge White Dragon - none

Cheers!

I forgot about the Dragon in the Basic game. Still if I don't use anything else out of the game it's over $30 AUD for the Dragon. Thanks for the info Merric.

Olaf,

Just use a lower CR Huge blue, and bump him up in size category only (blues cast spells as sorcerers, and Enlarge Self is a 1st-level spell)!

Not that I've ever read that book but (going on other people's reactions), I'm sure it won't be even close to that bad. At worst, I fear it'll simply be mediocre.

You forgot the Large Red in Blood War (Githyanki Dragon rider)

the concept of the Blood War did indeed originate in the first few years of 2E - a full 3 years IIRC before Planescape.

Pants,

Right about now I'll accept mediocre since I've yet to be truly wowed by any WotC release in quite some time.

Merric,

Did WotC do some rewriting of your neurons or something...cause that's exactly the OPPOSITE way I'd rate both Races of the Dragon and Races of Destiny books. (Races of Stone I'd rate at least 4.)

Rip,

Considering they avoided the issue fairly deftly in FC I, I don't see how this can come into play either. But we'll see.
