BTW for anyone that remembers Dnd.meetup.com we'll have some synergie from that cause its scheduled at the same time, and MIGHT be at the same place.
What do you mean by haphazard?Waylander the Slayer said:I believe that there are plenty of gamers in NYC. The tone of the thread seems a bit haphazard as far as planning goes and that might be a reason why people are not responding (just my impression). I
t might be a good idea to have some sort of planning/agenda for the day done before starting on the game day itself.
For example, it might be good to have some games already preset before starting the thread (I.E billy bob will be running Against the Giants, and PC will be doing handstands for money etc.)
Might i suggest posting at the "Compleat Strategist" @ 33rd street and maybe even talking to them to see what support they can give. They might even be willing to run games or help you with them I am sure that you can get some people interested. Hope that helps. As you well know, gamers come in bunches...

Look at the first post in the thread. We're gonna be playing at Kings Games in Brooklyn NY. We have full support from the owner. I have 2 RPGA Games scheduled, a Game organizer from the Long Island I-CON convention will be running munchkin and Buffy RPG, another associate will be running Vampire the Masquerade. We've got events planned, its all there. Hell, I can even do a HALO Tourny.
The first post on this thread seems to start with a negative comment. I do realize that you did post the events that are going to be held that day. The organization and composition of the post is what i am referring to (it might just be my general impression but i felt that you seemed to complain a LOT about people not responding - i would be more concerned with the quality of the games and the organization of the event - Quality always will bring quantity). You might also want to consider that this messageboard is primarily catering to a D&D audience and the events being run might not appeal to their taste. Further, spell checks might be helpful in increasing the clarity of your posts. Please consider this my opinion - i could and might very well be waaay of base.
As for Complaete Strat, why would they allow me to post something that takes buisness away from their store? Thats one, two, I cant even get to complete strat. I dont have a spare hour in the day to go visit my mom, much less do that.
The strategist has a messageboard where you can post ANYTHING in relation to events. From my knowledge, it is probably the most frequented RPG store in New York City. It is just a suggestion as stated before and not an attack or decrimanation of any kind.
Did you come into this thread from the other one or something? I'm just a bit confused here how you missed the fairly organized planning i HAVE done.
(I cant post notices at NG, FP, or CS because its disrispectfull to their ownership. Its one thing if Alex, the owner, decides to contact them and ask If its ok and work something out. Its another for me to just walz up and post about the Gameday. When I tried to run NYCon last year i had a poster made up and when I tried hanging it at CS and FB they got very upset and insulted. Offline i've been doing a lot spreading the Gameday by word of mouth, and online i've sent emails to people i know are in ny and gamers. If you wanna help in that respect, please be my guest.)
I dont think it would have been possible. Complete Strat is more concerned with simply selling product. They only have one room which is almost never used. Why would they be intrested in a Gameday not at their store. They wont make money, period.Waylander the Slayer said:Maybe it might have been possible to have all of the above help you organize the event before it was posted? I am not aware of the dynamics but from my experience they all seem to be very good guys and if anything, it would enhance their business. But as stated before, these are just suggestions and impressions - i could be wrong. You are organizing the event and it is a HUGE undertaking. I congratulate you for that. Unfortunately, i will be away paintballing that day - i will pass the information on to the rest of the group. I am sure Neg. Z is aware of the event, if not i will let him know.
Alex does have boardgames and i think he'll let us play some. I played this map game with him last week. It rocked!stevelabny said:count me in.
hey, if youre gonan get together within WALKING DISTANCE from my hut,
i have to go.
i'll be the fat guy in black with ponytail and glasses
um, nevermind.
as neg z said, id like to try the Buffy game but must admit I don't have the buffy book(s). will that be a problem?
i can understand why neutral ground probably wouldnt like advertisements for it, but what about the WOTC messageboards and even in the gamer-seeking-gamer forums here too?
ive only been to neutral ground twice, and they seemed to sometimes want to charge for admission and sometimes not. how does kings games work? is he just gonna let everyone in to game at his tables and HOPE we buy stuff?
brave man
And since its an all day thing, does KG have boardgames for use like NG? Always down for a game of Settlers of Catan in the middle of multiple sessions of RPGs
i've never gotten to play Sunless Citadel and want to meet Meepo. someone wanna run it for any newbies so i can join in and meet the Meepster?
or am i just being silly?
