Nymph's Kiss: Ultimate Psionic Feat

I sent the following to WotC customer service:

Does the Nymph's Kiss feat from the Book of Exalted Deeds give a bonus
to Telepathy-based psionic DCs (since you roll a d20 to determine the DC?)

They sent me the following reply:

Yes. You can use Nymph's Kiss to enhance any Charisma based ability, including psionics.

Thanks!

So, in addition to giving you a +2 to all CHA-related skills and turning checks, a +1 to all saves vs spells and spell-like abilities, *and* an extra skill point ever level, it is *also* a 3.0 Psionic Focus power! Jeez!

Gaaaah.

Maybe a little overpowered?

Glad to have the clarification that it affects all Cha-based skill checks though. It was definitely the right feat to pick for my animal-training-oriented ranger.

mmm... now I must find and/or make one that does this for every other stat... especially con! ;) will make that crazy all exalted psion yet!

I'm going to ask the author about this one. I bet I'll get a very different answer, too.

Can you find out if it only applies to Charisma checks interacting with Fey, and saving throw bonuses against spells and SLAs of Fey as well?

Well, that was Baraendur who answered you - so if you need clarification above and beyond his email, you can always ask him here. :)

If I remember the wording, you need the blessing of a diety (read, the GM feels you meet the criteria for being GOOD and lets you take it) to qualify for this feat.

Considering that to be the case, it's only going to be as game breaking as the GM allows.

Here's what I said

"Does the Nymph's Kiss feat from the Book of Exalted Deeds give a bonus to Telepathy-based psionic DCs (since you roll a d20 to determine the DC?)"

I found this question at ENWorld, and I wanted to know your opinion on it.

And what he said

No, I doubt that was the intention of the feat, and upon reading through it, I wouldn't interpret the feat to provide a DC boost on what is noted as a bonus on checks (skill checks and ability checks). It would be weird for a feat to come along and provide a DC to one discipline, leaving the others in the cold. Moreover, feats that increase the DC of spells and psionic powers are not meant to be given out accidentally, since this is such a powerful effect, but only very deliberately.

I'll ask him your question too, Hypersmurf. PS who wrote BoED? If I can track them down I'll ask them the same question too.

Ohhh, you meant the author of the PsiHB?

I thought you were talking about the author of the BoED.

The Fey question won't really have anything to do with Psionics :)

This is what Bruce said...

It appears the feat grants bonuses Charisma checks in any interaction, as well as gain a +1 bonus on all saving throws and spells/spell-likes, no matter their source. The fact that fey regard you as one of their own seems to be merely a bonus--I'm uncertain what game effect that would have, except as grist for roleplaying purposes :-).
