SuperJosh First Post Mar 12, 2008 #1 Do you get an Opportunity Attack if a creature takes a 5 foot step (OK, 1 square step)? I would think "no" although a fighter would get one if it was a "shift" (as opposed to using your move action to only move 1 square), right?

D Dragonblade Adventurer Mar 12, 2008 #2 5' steps are now called "shifts". They cost an entire move action but protect you from OAs.
D Dragonblade Adventurer Mar 12, 2008 #3 1 square step that uses up an entire move action is for all intents and purposes, a shift. And thus no OA.

SuperJosh First Post Mar 12, 2008 #4 Thanks guys that makes more sense. So the fighter still gets his attack, but it is not an OA, it is just from his special ability.

Click to expand... Which rocks IMO. I love the idea of the fighter tossing the rogue or wizard a glare with a "not so fast" stapled on the end of it. It really makes a lot of sense for those wary folk.
