OA and range

Enter the heroic tier feat "Beast Protector" for beastmaster rangers, which allows you to take OA's against enemies that perform a melee attack against your beast companion. Theoretically, if your beast companion is 5 squares away, and is attacked by an orc adjacent to it, you'd get to take a OA against the orc with your bow.

The synergy between Sharpshooter and Beast Protector is still under debate, with no official ruling that I know of, however. Some argue that all you're allowed to do is physically whack the orc over the head with your bow (again necessitating that you're adjacent to the orc or your beast companion, as per the feat's default interpretation. In melee. Which would be pretty sad).
