[OC8] Issue #1: Opening Day

Speedy

Jonathan smiled cheerily.
"Hey, wassup Jack? No, they really couldn't appreaciate the power armor, thought that I was Robocop! Come on!"
He wasn't wearing the armor yet, instead having pulled on a white t-shirt and jeans. Without his armor, he was just like any other young man.
"So when are we going to try the top speed tests? It really would help if I knew how fast I can go. Oh, and the others were wondering if I could hook 'em up with some jetpacks or something."

Nervously, Anh waited outside the professor's door. Today she had put on her best casual date outfit...well without being too obvious about it. Black skirt that made the most of her strong tanned legs and black high boots to match. A very thin long colorful scarf wrapped around her neck over the dark blue v-neck sweater that hugged her youthful curves.

Ok, deep breath.

Wearing jeans and an Angels t-shirt, Brandon walked up to the security guard. Brandon carried his badge in one hand and his large, heavy duty, black leather duffel bag in the other. Probably shouldn't have brought the costume today, but I might need it to fly recon around the stadium, Brandon thought.

"Thanks, Bob, but I've already got a ticket for Sunday's game," Brandon said with a smile. "In fact, I'm helping out with security on Sunday. I was told to come in today and have a look around."

Brandon was brimming with excitement, but was still remembering to keep his pulse low and steady with deep breaths . . . at least for now.

After a couple moments the door - completely covered with news clippings and fantastic photographs - opened, showing Anh a distracted Dr. D. Carl Harrison. He was staring at a piece of equipment that took up most of his desk as it thrummed loudly, pink blobs of what might be plasma oscillating back and forth through a transparent tube in the center. "Yes...?" he asked distractedly, still not looking. Every few seconds the device rumbled a complaint.

The professor had on a light blue shirt today, buttoned neatly down the front and adorned with a black tie bearing a stylized image of Einstein. A belt with a couple of tool pouches held up his tan slacks, and a pair of sunglasses hung from his breast pocket. His black hair was disheveled just a bit, standing slightly on end as if the strands were buoyed up by some force field.

Managing not to squeak too much, Anh spoke in a very soft voice. "Dr. Harrison? I...I was supposed to come help research...if...if you're busy I could come back." She started to back away, clutching at her bookbag and trying to look as small as possible.

Maybe he forgot? He had so many much more important things on his mind...he was the Supreme Intellect after all? What was she but just another eighteen year old girl who desparately had a crush on him?

"Oh! Ms. Nguyen!" Dr. Harrison turned his head to grin at her, a bit sheepishly. "Yes, I've been expecting you," he informed with a warm smile.

Suddenly the machine on his desk hiccupped, and the professor's expression turned again to surprise as he hurried quickly back over to the device. "Please come in for a moment," he called after himself. "I suppose I should shut this off while I'm away..."

Oh he remembered me! Oh shut up, you sound like an idiot. Right.

Anh gingerly made her way into the office, trying to find a place to stand that was out of his way. Clutching the bookbag in her hands almost as if it were a shield, she stood there waiting for him to say something...anything...but then she enjoyed have a great view of his backside while he fiddled with his equipment.

Suddenly she giggled, unable to stop from keeping the wrong image from coming to mind...coming...more stifled giggling.

"Man, you really take the cake, you know that?" The 'security guard' says as he starts laughing and holding his stomach. 'Bob' quickly morphs into a perfect clone of Brandon and says, straight-faced and smiling, "Thanks, Bob, but I've already got a ticket for Sunday's game."

"I told you we should have driven together over here," Brandon2 says. "Now, Mr. Happy, what should we check out first?"

"Heh, technophobes just never get it," Jack replied. "Lemme see what we have in the way of jetpacks..."

Jack disappeared behind a door for a few minutes, and then returned.

"This is what we got. It's not great, but it may be useful." The design of the pack looked suspiciously like that of the pack from Disney's The Rocketeer. "It doesn't last long, and it's clumsy, but it might help."

OOC: The jetpacks have fuel for 18 rounds and must be used in at minimum 3 round bursts. They give the wearer a fly speed of 40' (clumsy). They also aren't particularly concealable.

OOC: I KNEW NE1 would show up as "Bob." :) In any case, NE1/Brandon and Ahn/TSI can feel free to explore until they find someone to interact with (librarian, REAL security guard, etc.) or if you have a question.
