[OC8] Issue #1: Opening Day

OC8 HQ, Anaheim

"That'll have to do. Besides, one of 'em can fly himself."
Jonathan stretches himself, raising his arms high in the air.
"I think I'll go for a jog to warm up my muscles. I'll be gone for about... say, half an hour, can you arrange for the top speed tests by then?"

After getting an answer, the not-so-super man went back to his room to change into shorts and running shoes. When done, he goes out of the HQ and starts jogging with a steady pace. He'll go cross-country (is there any unbuild land near?).

"Sure," Jack replied, "let me see how fast I can put that speed test together." The tech chuckled at his own joke.

OOC: HQ is under Disneyland. It's nothing but amusement parks and hotels for quite some distance. :)

"Dr. Harrison?" she spoke softly....oh he smells soooooo nice... "I found a somethings you might like...will you look them over and tell me what you think?" She offered up the printouts to him nervously.
"Oh!" Dr. Harrison looked up from his computer, glancing at the printout and then turning to give the young woman a smile. "Very good, Anh! I think you've found the right track. Let's split them up and investigate them in depth," he decided, tearing the sheet carefully in half and handing one piece to her.

I'd like to take 10 on the research check if possible.

Anh took the piece of paper from his hands, accidently (or rather not so accidently) letting her fingers brush his for a brief moment. Of course to her the moment lasted a long lifetime of pure bliss.

"Oh my dear Carl, why don't we do this together?" She smiled so seductively at him, perched on the edge of the table before sliding into his lap. "You type and I'll just work on a few other things..."

Ugh...no too...just too...much...

Anh headed back to her computer, sliding into the seat with a long sigh. Resting the paper on the edge of the keyboard and monitor, she began her search.

"Oh, Dr. Harrison! Look! I think I've solved the whole problem...we'll never need to worry about those pesky criminals again!" the long-legged beauty spoke in a husky voice as the professor stared at her with awe and oh yes...that too.

The young woman giggled slightly. Definitely too campy this time around. Mores sighs and she went back to work, letting the lull of the tapping keys take her away from her fantasies.

OOC: Take 10 or 20 or whatever it takes. The Italics, if you haven't guessed are her thoughts/fantasies.

When Brandon and "Joe" approach the security guard, he asks them for their ID's. Seeing their OC8 badges, he looks impressed.

"You're that new superteam, ain'tcha?" he asks. "My boss told me you'd be coming today. I hope there's nuthin' to be concerned 'bout, fellas?"

Doctor Harrison finds the following:

- Police Blotter: Transient arrested in front of Edison Field

From the Orange County Register, March 21st, 2003:

A transient was taken into custody by the Anaheim police department Thursday on charges of loitering and trespassing at Edison Field. The man was identified as 52 year old Michael Klaztwicz. Klatzwicz is being held at the county jail in Santa Ana.

The county's homeless problem is focused in downtown Santa Ana, but recently transients have been relocating to other parts of the county. Police have no info on the shift in locales.

An Edison Field security guard, Bob Roberts, Jr., claimed to hear the transient "raving 'they're here, they're back, they said they'd come.'" Roberts said he could not get Klatzwicz to elaborate.

Anaheim Police denied all comment on the arrest.

- Skaterz tag UC Irvine Social Sciences Plaza

From the New University, UCI's student paper, week of March 9-15, 2003:

Social sciences students came to class last Wednesday to find that the Social Science Plaza area had been "tagged" by the local super-hooligans, the Skaterz.

Responding to the scene, campus police identified the nonsense graffiti as being consistent with past Skaterz markings. An arrest warrant has been issued for members of the group.

By Friday, facilities management staff had painted over the graffiti and the Plaza was its accustomed shade of biege.

- Odd lights in sky over Garden Grove High School football stadium at 2 AM

From the Orange County Register, March 19th, 2003:

Garden Grove residents reported seeing a set of unusual lights over the Garden Grove High football stadium Tuesday evening. According to eyewitnesses, between three and five bluish lights moved in patterns over the field.

"I'm sure it was a UFO," said resident Quach Troung. "That's not normal." His daughter Tiffany saw the lights too, he claimed. "My daughter was worried. She said she was afraid 'they'd come and take her away', but I told her she'd be safe in our home."

The stadium lights were on at the time of the sighting, and the Garden Grove police department issued a statement that it was offically determined to be a weather phenomenon related to the stadium lights and fog.

Air traffic controllers at John Wayne airport reported no signs of any unexpected air traffic Tuesday.

- The Cruncher breaks out of Bakersfield Metahuman Corrections facility

From the Los Angeles Times, Orange County edition, March 15th, 2003:

The super-criminal know as the Cruncher escaped from the Bakersfield Metahuman Correction facility Friday night at approximately 11:30 PM. The Cruncher, whose real name is Tomas Gonzalez, was being held in a special cell designed to withstand any use of his superhuman strength.

Exact details of the breakout are being withheld for security reasons. The Crusher was last seen heading west and wearing his orange prison-issued jumpsuit. Officials say that citizens should consider him unarmed and dangerous and to call 911 if they see him. Under no circumstances should citizens attempt to apprehend him themselves.

Seven BMC guards were injured in the escape, two critically. Their names are being withheld until their family can be contacted.

Jonathan returns from his jog, which proved quite uninteresting.
That half an hour felt like an awfully long time. Maybe I should consider getting a watch.
He goes to his own room and gets a shower, after which he changes to the whole body undersuit for the armor.

He then gets to the labs.
"So, are we ready?"
