Odd Race Class Combos

I'm playing a half-orc bard in a PBEM game right now... He's great. ;) I made him middle-aged, and more of a storyteller/loremaster type than singer. :)

Dwarven Bard
Elven Fighter

If you allow Prestige classes from DMG as being standard, how about a Half-Orc LoreMaster or Shadow Dancer?

While that would be an interesting character, all the characters are going to be first level. Thanks, though.

How 'bout an elven sorcerer? Other than the "unlikely because they have CHA penalty" Half-Orcs and Dwarves, I can't think of anyone less likely. Elves typically arrive at magic through study, as reflected in their favored class of wizard. While Gnomes also have a favored class of wizard/illusionist, they have innate magic, which I argue is an indication that sorcery is not uncommon among them.

Half-orc illusionist! :D
Or even better, pair him up with a gnome barbarian as a duo.

And then you could round out the party with another duo: a dwarf ranger and his elf paladin sidekick!

Well my girlfrind is playing a half-orc paladin in my campaign. Considering that the half-orc description paints them more chaotic than anything else, I would consider a paladin an oddball.

Half-orc paladins are the best. :) I played one, and had a blast!

The dwarven Monks are a lot of fun. There's a feat in a semi-recent Dragon Mag about a feat availible only to Dwarven Monks, which allows them to strike with both fists for 1.5X Str damage bonus.

Personally, I don't think you should really have to take a feat for it, as long as it's your only attack, but whatever.

I also really like the Goblin Paladin. Imagine them, with their riding bonus, and a Blink Dog mount! That'd be a ton of fun! :D

My wife plays a half-orc Paladin, and she deals out ungodly amountd of damage. She is the front-line fighter in our 20th level game. She's not so hot on the spellcasting and turning, but boy can she hit hard!
I played a halfling Paladin (one of two in that game) and they are surprisingly effective. Being able to have a Medium bonded mount works very well for dungeon crawling. Lance charge from dogback anyone? This would also work even better with a Gnome, I think.
I tried a Dwarven Sorcerer once. Didn't work well.
An Elven Monk works very well. The alignment means they are rare, but the Dex bonus is a great thing.
Half-Orc Rogues make great thugs. Give 'em a greataxe and flanking, and they can do icky things.
Half-elven Cleric. Everyone expects the Half-elf to be the loner type, a half-elf who spends her time healing and buffing others to try to gain acceptance could be interesting. Same for a Half-Orc.
Dwarven Monks could be frightening. The Dwarf stat penalty fits the Monk well, as does the Half-orc one, and the speed defecit is offset by the Monk class.
Just some ideas.
