A trailer for an audio-story podcast. What was confusing about it?

Mostly why anyone would be excited by this. Maybe I just do not know how audio books "work" but it did not sound gripping to me at all.
Not all formats are good for all people.
But also, this isn't an audio book - and no, that's not being pedantic. Just like not all books automatically make good movies without special editing, not all books are good for reading aloud.
A decent story podcast is written more like an old radio-program than a novel. It is in episodes of some typical length (often about half an hour), each with its own beginning, middle, and end, so the pacing of the podcast story is generally different from a book read aloud.

It's not a book, as Umbran said. It's an audio drama/play about one of the more popular characters from Star Trek's history.
Maybe you don't. Lots of people listen to audiobooks and podcasts. Amd when I say lots, I mean lots. Audio is an incredibly popular medium--it means you can effectively consume a book while walking the dog or driving or exercising or gardening. I'm subscribed to about two dozen podcasts which I listen to weekly.
