I think that the trailer isn't promising, but ...

I also think that making any grand statements as to the quality of Star Trek: Section 31 (or what is, and isn't, Star Trek) are premature until, you know ... we see the actual product.

But then how could we say that we told you so?

Weirdly, people have a long memory for the times they are right.

But tend to completely forget all the times that they are wrong!

But doomcasting based on the trailer doesn't seem healthy ... to me at least. There will be plenty of time to dunk on it (or celebrate it) when we see what they have done.

I would rather rewatch Startrek V and Nemesis as a double feature.

Well, I like both of those. I'd much rather watch them as a double feature 4 times over than to watch the Motion Picture two times over...and rather watch those 5 (V and Nemesis) times over than to watch Generations 3 times over.

Trekkies are an odd bunch sometimes. They'd rather watch something like Insurrection than Nemesis...but if one REALLY thinks about it, Nemesis actually makes more sense that what occurs in Insurrection (though Insurrection is more of a political philosophical point than Nemesis even comes close to stating).

They tend to say they love Wrath of Khan (action movie), but then poo poo on anything else that is mostly an action movie by trying to pander to some philosophical higher ground...when many of those movies making those "philosophical" points not only have a LOT Of nonsense in regards to plot and science, but are boring as spit in comparison to the more action oriented ones.

And then you have those that somehow bridge both action and philosophical (such as ST 6) as well as political and social commentary (of their times of course).

I just never got the hate for Nemesis. I actually have it as one of the better Star Trek movies (though it's release timing was ill planned), and the second best of the Next Generation Movies.

I do like Nemesis. There are some silly things, but the space battle is the best expression of combat vs a cloaked ship since Balance of Terror, much more tactical than the one in Undiscovered Country.
