Ana Lucia served as body guard to Jack's father and witnessed him having some sort of odd confrontation with a woman. James/Sawyer more or less shared drinks, and James/Sawyer lived to tell Jacka bout it. But Ana Lucia died before she could tell Jack about her encounter with his father. So this plot has gone phst. Why bring up the plot just have it to go phst?
How many of the "shared backgrounds you don't know about" side-plots have gone anywhere?

Libby was in the same loony bin as Hurley. Deepdish never realizes this and Libby dies before he could learn about it. So this plot has also gone phst. Why bring up the plot just have it to also go phst?
It is said that she'll be in a number of flashbacks this year. If so, then your theory doesn't hold.

this was more than some other character wandering around in the background. This seemed to lay the ground work for a puzzle that can't really go anywhere.

I think Sayid isn't going to take the news of Jack, Sawyer and Kate's capture easy (it's also only a couple of days after Shannon's death). As he knows that he and maybe a couple other survivours of the crash who are willing to take a stand don't have superior numbers, only guerilla warfare is their way.

As for the three captives: during the first two seasons they were the main characters (even getting near a triangular relationship) and I don't think they can stop following what happens to them for more than a couple of weeks.

Locke and Mr Eko will turn up alive probably but not Desmond as he seems to have served his purpose. Even though it's still a miracle that helps Locke walk again, he will change his way of thinking given what happened with the hatch. (I expect less talk from him like "the island gives you ..." or similar lines) Mr. Eko will probably help Locke with that.

As for the rest of the crash survivours, they seem like characters who either aren't courageous enough (like Hurley) or have something or someone to lose (Jin and Sun, Bernard and his wife, Claire and her baby). You won't expect much action from them.

Unless of course the writers decide to put those people into action by taking away the things they've been living for.

Which leads me to the observation, I don't care how much they deny it - the shows producers killed off the Ana Lucia and Libby character becuase of Michelle Rodriguez and Cynthia Watros arrest for drunk driving.

I have been saying that since the episode where they killed them off. Finaly someone else sees the truth.

I am not sure but I thought I remember Locke coming out of the jungle after the big white light explosion, and Claire being there talking to him.

No, that was Charlie, who seemed surprised that Locke and Eko weren't already there.

My thinking with Michael and Walt is that they will make it back to civilization, where Walt will be written out in an explainable way so they won't have to deal with the growth issue. Michael, on the other hand, will hook up with Desmond's girlfriend and join her in her efforts to find the island.

As for Libby getting shot because of Cynthia Watros' DUI, that may or may not be true, but I have read where the writers have said that Libby was actually just a target of opportunity for them. Once they realized people didn't really like Ana-Lucia, they decided to kill Libby as well in order to get the "shcok value" they were looking for.

Besides, if they're going to fire people for getting a DUI, then Eko is the next to go.

The only thing with that would be that if Michael makes it back to civilization there would be a huge search and resue operation.
