Anyone else watching? What sports do you follow? Do you enjoy the artistic figure skating, X-games style feats, hardcore racing, or are you just a fan off the rare double i in "skiing"? Things are just getting started and I haven't seen any major upsets yet, but there's plenty of time for drama.
Me and my wife watch as much as we can. We work from home, so we let the telly run. :D

Skiing and Biathlon are the most exciting, since I am Norwegian and she is Swedish, and those two nations compete fiercely for those medals.

My wife loves watching curling, which I only check in on when the last 2 rounds of a game are up. :D

Hockey is always exciting, and the alpine sport as well. Not so fond of figure skating myself, but my wife loves it.

The worst thing for me is me having such big hopes for Norway. They usually come through, but I'm afraid this will be a so-so olympic games. Still, 3 gold, 1 silver and 2 bronze medals so far aint bad. But Norway averages about 25 medals each time, so they have to keep the pressure up! I still remember Torino in 2006, where Norway only took 2 gold medals and a bunch of silver and bronze medals ... the horror, the horror!

the answer is: You can but not for very long.
One wonders if she'll become the new "Agony of Defeat."

Extreme bravery and extreme foolhardiness are not mutually exclusive, and seem to have a lot of overlap in these high-risk sports. Vonn knew what she was getting into and I think deserves some credit for being willing to push 100% -- go big or go home -- but at the same time I think that level of physical self-destruction should be discouraged in sports. It's the football problem of normalizing playing with TBI, just in a different venue.
